there is a hole at x=5, therefore thats not part of the domain, so answer = EXCEPT 0 and 5

nope. then you'll alter the equation. You'll omit the spot discontinuity if you do that.

I love how right after all the 800's, the scores go down by 10's. Sucks...

OH I wrote in the denominator: x^2-5, instead of x^2-5x.
ARGH. Stupid mistakes like that are so annoying =(

sorry, i think it's acutally x= 2.76... whoa, i'm tired.

yea..heh. i really need an 800 to offset my other losses though.

So far, i've gotten two wrong and 3 misses.

look, (x-5)/(x^2-5x)

(x-5) / x(x-5)

1 / x

I have no idea anymore. I don't remember 7.44? I'm sure you got it right. I think we did the same thing.

If you simplify, you lose the hole discontinuity. Its still there, regardless.

yep. but plug in 5 without simplifying.
if you simplify, you get all the asymptote discontinuities.
If you don't simplify, you get an even better answer. You get all the spot discontinuities, jump discontinuities, and asymptote discontinuities.

yes, but you just can't simplify because there's still a hole there! just look at the denominator. (x)(x-5)... Where is this zero? At x=0,5. Thus, x cannot be 0 or 5.

YEAH. That sounds more like it. Hahaha. I was thinking where I saw a 7... Okay good. So we did get the same thing.

General consensus is that it's all except 5 and 0.

I worry about the curve... it wasn't like EXTREMELY easy... was it?

@ aquamarinee, i know x =2.76, and y=7.24... was the question what is the reciprocal of x times the reciprocal of y? Cuz that's 1/2.

if you graph the equation it looks like its only 0, but when u go to the table it says error at x=5

it was asking for the sum of the two reciprocals

Yeah, it was asking for the reciprocal. so I think 1/2 is right?

*sum of the reciprocal

lmao remember when we all signed the statement agreeing to not discuss the questions under any circumstances, including internet and text messages?

... :-)

not that i havent felt much better looking at everyone's answers agreeing with mine

yes you are right

there was such an agreement?
