I have applied to six schools for transfer; Boston College, Tufts, Fordham, Suffolk, Umass and Loyola New Orleans. I have heard back from Suffolk and Loyolam, which both accepted me but now are asking for a deposit within two weeks or before May 1st but schools like Boston College will not be sending out decisions until the end of May.

Anyone been through this before and have any advice?

Thanks

I’m having the same exact problem. I accepted an offer of admission tonight from UNC with a request for tuition deposit waiver. If I get into Georgetown or Northwestern and the financial aid differential is not greater than $5k in loans, I’m accepting from either of the latter schools and calling up UNC to ask for a release.

I don’t know if this is the right way to do things but I think it’s a little unfair to make May 13th the date to reply to the offer of admission, especially when they know you’ve probably applied to other schools. Not to mention that the longer you wait to accept, the greater the chance that the on-campus housing spots are filled up by other transfers.

Its not a good situation to be in, if i hold out for BC and end up being shafted i may end up having no other options.

Agreed, Pontsnorth. They’re basically putting you in a position where you have to either pay two tuition deposits or take your chances on getting accepted to a highly selective school like BC.

Guys,

If you contact the school you’re waiting on and inform them that you have an exploding offer from another institution, they will probably be able to give you a decision.
