May 1st is here and STILL no answer from the UC

this is ridiculous...it even says on their website "decisions made between march 11th and may 1st for transfers"

well, what's the story ?

No clue, man -- still waiting on San Diego and UCLA here.

I think their waiting for some of the students accepted at Berkeley to decline their UCLA admission before they make their final decisions.

waiting for UCSB. no answers.

god they're idiots. why not post on the website "notification period will be made between March 11th and May 1st. However, we might be lazy-ass bitc***, so you must cope with us because our admissions staff will be eating donuts frequently".

That is somewhat funny, but I still thinking they are waiting for others who were offered admission to decline. Think of our situation as being on a waiting list. In a way, rolling admission does resemble a waiting list.

waiting on SD and LA

still waiting for UCLA, hopefully we hear by this week

Damn, this wait is driving me insane.... I am extremely ****ed at everything now and I cant even think about UCLA, otherwise, I feel like destroying everything in my path.... Im in honors program and out of all my friends in the honors program all got in... There only 1 person who is still pending as well and he is not even in the honors program....
One thing.... THere was a UCLA representative on out campus last week and he told me that UCLA would tell most people by Friday-Saturday and the following week, so Im hoping to hear from them this week....

At least UCLA has left it wide open - we all know they'll notify us whenever they damn well feel like it. What upsets me most about schools like UCSB and UCSD is that they themselves established these deadlines!

It just seems like a real lack of respect for the applicants to drag this out -- especially with no updated information. They know we are checking their websites every 5 minutes for nothing.

One has to wonder how they treat their enrolled students, if this is the way they woo prospective ones.

That's too bad....hope you all get in, but perhaps relaxing is a better way of passing the time. To think that they're all conspiring against you all is ludicrous and a little dimented if you ask me. Relax, it will all work out and good luck! :-)

Baller, I know UCSB.....I know faculty and Admissions people there. Curb the language and perhaps good kharma will come your way....perhaps they're not the idiots after all? lol

BruinMichelle, I don't feel that anyone on this thread is "ludicrous and demented" enough to feel we are being "conspired" against.

I can only speak for myself, but for my part I'm just frustrated that these schools have failed to meet their own deadlines to notify us of their decisions -- and without so much as an updated word on when we can expect to hear.

I certainly in no way suggested that UCLA is conspiring against us. I offered a reasonable explanation for the rolling admission process.

You know, BruinMichelle -- that was an extremely catty post, all smiley faces and LOLs aside.

OK--

UCSB, you are beautiful, generous, and fantastic. there's my karma.

what aggravates the LIVING SHIZZNIT outta me is that those guys give US a deadline saying "deadline for admission is November 30th - NO EXCEPTIONS" so we HAVE to comply by that rule or else...

but when it's OUR turn...

these guys say May 1st is the last decision day for them....HELLO..it's almost the "2nd" of May and you are STILL telling the applicant that your decision is pending?

Gosh, now that I think about it, students are NOT the procrastintors. It's the teachers/the officials! THEY are the one who are lazy! This is true too for my classes.....my teachers keep saying they'll return our essays on a certain day but then they fail to do so because they FORGOT!

HOW IMPUDENT are they?!

STUDENTS are the ones who are on time! you got that right!

I understand that they may need more time, but to not update their site with that information is inconsiderate.

sabrina, very true, but you forgot one extremely important element right after that:

"inconsiderate and simply RUDE."

:)

I dont't think its laziness on their part if anything the fact that theyr'e taking this long might be a sign of a really strong applicant pool and applications that are similar in every which way so maybe theyr'e trying to look at any difference an application has from the next which might give one or the other an edge... then again your theory of them sitting around all day eating donuts might be true.
