May 2008 Chemistry

300th reply just for the hell of it…we’re owning the Math II and Bio threads lol

EDIT: Damn, missed it…

Aw man, community college courses suck…I feel your pain!

haha 21 page in less than 24 hours… keep em coming guys!

does ne1 remember any further q’s? I still haven’t found any wrongs on my end yet (though I’m not necessarily complaining)

Limestone and Acid rain was neutralization right?

think so, limestone is Ca(OH)2 or something and the OH combines with hydrogen to neutralize…i may have butchered that

how long did it take for you guys?
i finished it like 15 minutes early…
i get nervous with 85 chem questions and tend to do it so fast… :(

it was neutralization for limestone? i put oxidation. -_-;
i was gonna put neutralization but i was like… how can you neutralize something and make it melt down… stupid me…

what prep books did you guys use to prepare for this exam?

especially you princeton- wow! you still havent found any mistakes -.- thats amazing.
what prep book did you use?

Hey, I Have a question about the equilibrium question,
I realize some of you said its

I, and II.–but i just put 2

Yes, equilibrium was “I.” (observable properties constant)
^^that isn’t what defines equilibrium right? I mean, you can have no observable changes in a soution that ISNT at equilibrium too? IDk that was my reasoning, but I was debating this during the test.

I realize statement I is true of equilibrium questions, but it isn’t a characteristic that makes it necessarily equilibrium. IDK i may be wrong, can someone explain this to me?

i used barron’s and some practice tests and info from PR, macgrowhill and Kaplan… i think barron’s is better than any other books

it’s not exclusive to equilibrium, but it DOES completely encompass equilibrium

i omitted 2 and missed 5 that i’m aware of, so 770 about. Used Barrons..idk if it was a good idea, full of errors and it goes a bit too much into irrelevant things

uh, What’s full score cutoff?
I mean dont u guys think 2-3 wrong is too harsh?

Kaplan book gave ~80/85 the cutoff for 800

^ I really hope so.

Ivy_go I used up every spare second; I had precisely enough time to make sure I had bubbled in everything perfectly. lol.

I jumped to Barrons Practice Test 1, took it, then called and filed a complaint with the company on account of the ambiguity of their questions and the abundance of errors in their answers. After fuming over having wasted my time with that ■■■■■■■■ book, I tried SparkNotes. I was ready to burn it when I realized that the answers given for the practice tests (the big list of all the answers w/ no explanation) were different from the ones given with explanations. Then, I read that SparkNotes was done by Harvard students and realized the problem :P. This was all done on Thursday and Friday of the week of April 28th. Basically, my AP studying is all that really helped me :)!

yeah, same, i read an IB review book, and skimmed my class notes, took a few practice tests, and scanned an AP review book.

Lets make a consolidated list like all the other thread with the questions and answers with their topics.

for the acid & limestone question .. isn’t limestone CaCO3? which isn’t a base?

Goddamn I put oxidation.

I finished like 25 minutes early and took my sweet ass time checking (there were two i just flat out didn’t know but guessed…one is the limestone and the other is the O2 and O3 question)
