May 2008 US History

bulldoghopeful, I am a prospective ecno major as well. But I already took world and got a 760.. I just took USH for the heck of it.. I am sure I broke 700, but it was still really hard...

Oh.. Does anyone remember what the answer was to the question about Indians during the late 19th century?

I put Native American Bureau took some steps to improve the conditions of Native American life or something.. I thought it was that they were put into reservations, but I think that is wrong.

what did u guys get for the question about who invaded the United States?

the answer choices were like: Pancho Villa, Batista, Allende, Benito Juarez, and Juan Peron.

i put pancho villa... but idk

I put that the children were in wife's clan for the indian and northeastern colonialists.

I put pancho villa for that invasion question.

GPA, i put that the cavalry confined them into reservations, i rememberd Custer's Last stand, etc.

what about for the question dealing with economy? It went something along the lines of what would happen if we introduced or raised protective tariffs? I put greater deflationary tariffs cuz none of the other ones made sense, but thena gain...idk

im almost positive that the answer to the hudson river school had to do with portrait landscape paintings... manifest destiny

also, for civil war, i put the installation of a nat'l bank because the emancipation proclamation ended slavery, not segregation. that would come in the reconstruction era

what was the question for the civil war again? cuz i put the segreation one for that one i think

im not sure, i think it asked what took place in the north during the civil war, i could be wrong.

apxyguy; i looked it up, the hudson river school has to do with romanticisim/impressionism so it was that answer choice i think (i think, but i hope not)

and the answer to the tariff question is increased prices for both domestic and foreign goods (domestic b/c of less competition, foreign good b/c adjusted for tariff)

Yeah, the Truman-McArthur question I had no clue.

oh, and hwoo9, im pretty sure the answer to the Lowell Institution question was that it sought immigrants to work.

the truman-macarthur question was pretty straightforward if you knew the material.

i'd remember the answer if somebody gave me the answer choices. it pretty much had to do with mac calling out truman for being a pansy and not nuking china.

"the answer choices were like: Pancho Villa, Batista, Allende, Benito Juarez, and Juan Peron."

It was Villa. Batista is the dictator of Cuba whom Fidel overthrew. Allende was the Socialist leader of I think Chile, whom Nixon overthrew. Peron was the fascist dictator in Argentina. I can't remember what the other guy did, but I know he didn't invade the U.S. Villa invaded territories promised to the US by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in an attempt to help out Mexican farmers.

If I remember correctly the civil war question was an EXCEPT question. I think I put down the thing about segregation.
Hudson School of Art was the landscapes

What was the answer to the Hudson Art Schoolq question?

The Hudson school answer was the one regarding landscapes. And segregation is correct for the Civil War question. Segregation continued in some areas of the North until Brown V. Board of Education.

There was a question where most of America's revenue or money or w/e came from. I put customs duties and _____

Was the question on Madison, to curb factionalism or population growth? I googled it and I think its factionalism =/

For the Mass. Bay Colony q, was there a choice for proprietory colony?

The influence of businesses on gov. policy, I remember I put E for that. They formed some kind of committee or something

I guess the embargo is up (that cursed ograbme)

So I've had lots of requests to post what I've got, there is lots of overlap with that large list that someone else posted. The general format is that i have the basis of the question - then the answer.

So here goes:
