May 2010 Chemistry

Who else is taking it? Let's use this thread over the next few days to discuss the exam.

I will be taking it.

does anyone know if there are more free sparknotes tests online for chem? *in addition to the 3 in the book…)

Silverturtle, what level have you studied Chemistry at (AP, Honors, etc)?

I’m probably most nervous for this test out of the subject tests I’m taking tomorrow

I am not looking forward to this…

I’m in AP Chemistry.

Same here. We are currently in review mode for the AP exam, so I hope the SAT II seems easy to me. :p

I’m quite scared for this one. My Chemistry teacher is the most incompetent teacher I’ve ever had. I’m in IB SL Chemistry.

Has anyone taken the first test from the Princeton Review book? I just finished it and was surprised by its difficulty. I was hoping for an 800, but my raw score was an insufficient 70.25/85.

^ I did. I didn’t do so hot, either; got about high 600s/low 700s on that one. First PR test aside, I thought the 3rd PR test was ridiculously hard.

Well, I hope tomorrow’s test is easier than that test was because I won’t be doing any more preparation tonight.

Ha, I just realized that the test I took was the first Barron’s test, not the first Princeton Review test.

This was a tricky test.

I was honestly expecting the worst, but it was definitely not as bad as I thought it would be.

I’m pretty sure I got the ammonia dissolved in water question wrong. I said “true” that it was very soluble in water but “false” for the H-bond explanation. But apparently it is because of H-bonds. Any other questions you guys are unsure of?

No discussion of questions yet.

EDIT: Let the discussions begin!

Ethereality3 - I said T and F for that one, too… :/

I did, soooo bad it’s ridiculous. I feel like canceling my scores, but I wanna know exactly what I got. Is it bad for me to take it again June?

^ There’s Score choice, so you can see what you get, and if you don’t do well, just don’t send that one to colleges. I’m retaking in June regardless of what I get this time around.

Skipped 3, guessed on 4…just to be safe I’m overestimating it at 12 wrong, which means a raw score of 70 and a scaled score of about 740…so I guess that’s alright, considering I’ve never taken AP chem.
