May 2011 SAT - Scores and Delays

Call 8667567346 to reach the SAT Department at CollegeBoard.

I really wouldn’t even doubt that they’re fixing the curves. My English teacher told me that when she took her GRE, scores were delayed because it was rumored the Verbal section was far too vague to be fair. Happens with a lot of tests so idk, maybe :)

Has college board ever readjusted their curves though…

marketing ploy to get people signing up for score verification

It could be anything from a test-related issue (like curves, which however I doubt at this stage), some sort of marking error because of which they have to redo all the results, found out some grader went crazy giving lots of essays 1 for no reason, or their servers aren’t prepared for the score-release load yet, or anything, really. There’s no way to know…

All I know is that the day I took the ACT, they said the results would be up at 1 AM EST on a certain day, and dammit they were up at 1 AM on that certain day. Collegeboard has been around for longer than most of our grandparents, they should have this crap sorted out…

This happened back in 2006.

[Technical Problems Cause Errors in SAT Test Scores - New York Times](Technical Problems Cause Errors in SAT Test Scores - The New York Times)

Or maybe the Rapture had something to do with it.

I hope they don’t do this when I take the SAT in october. I’ll go crazy… Sorry for you guys, hopefully the wait is worth it and you get the scores you want :)

if we sign up for score verification can we get it tomorrow?

^probably not.

Do you guys think collegeboard is readjusting its curve (as some hypothesized on this site), having technical problems, or just being a bunch just a bunch of lazy asses?

I don’t think they’re lazy…they get paid for what they do so they shouldn’t be lazy… I mean these test are some people’s only hope and students puts their heart and soul into it (some even cry if they get low scores) so they shouldn’t be lazy about it. maybe technical problems but I think they’ll stick to the curve they already have.

Just because they shouldn’t be lazy doesn’t mean they aren’t. But I don’t care what the reason is, I am upset!

Obviously a lot of people are upset about this. Does this happen often? I’m just upset that they waited until the night before the expected score date to notify us. What do you guys think?

I am beyond angry with collegeboard. I wish they would have notified us sooner maybe last week? and also i found out through a friend. I feel bad for those who are waking up at 5am tomorrow expecting scores and there’s nothing there. collegeboard should definitely send out an email

For me it’s not the fact that they delayed it but the fact that they didn’t feel the need to tell the students, tomorrow will be the worst christmas-esque morning for a lot of kids across the nation.

I just hope that’s not the reason because if it is then the people who are being lazy should be fired like on the spot FIRED

No press release and a three day delay make me think they’re hoping no one would notice. Has to be technical problems.

are they going to release the reason or just continue to act like it didn’t happen?

how is this a marketing ploy for score verification?

@amk933: I really, REALLY hope ur right. But shouldn’t it take longer to adjust the whole score?

I’m curious, has this ever happened before?
