May 2011 - US History Post-Test Discussion

The social gospel one was about Christianity and how it was their duty to improve things i believe

regardless of the question.
William Jennings Bryan didn’t belong.

what was 89’s question that u guys are saying is mercantilism?

[What do Huey Long, charles Coughlin, Upton Sinclair, and Francis Townsend have in common? | ChaCha Answers](http://www.chacha.com/question/what-do-huey-long,charles-coughlin,-upton-sinclair,-and-francis-townsend-have-in-common)
so the other guy.
and the letter from MLK?

“he claimed Nixon had an absolute executive privilege to protect communications “between high Government officials and those who advise and assist them” in carrying out their duties”- wikipedia

89 was about mercantilism in the colonies.

answer was either protected agriculture trade or impoverished the colonists

i thought mercantilism was the question and it asked you what best represents it. what were the answers?

@ confused 90 haha okay, but i was actually wondering the question… because i dont reember putting either of the answers lol.

and also, what is the William Jennings Bryan question??

thanks collegebound

also FDR New Deal and Great Society had all these in common EXCEPT

This test was pretty easy ill help you guys out on questions that seem to linger

The map with everyone going to oklahoma was indian removal under andrew jackson

Calvin coolidge quote was he wanted to lower taxes for the wealthy (Progressive rax reform is where you increase taxes on the wealthy, and he was arguing against that)

The quote about the national debt was Alexander Hamilton

Hemmingway’s book the sun also rises was the answer to the baby boom question

William jennings bryan died before FDR’s time, so he did not “not” support his policies

Monroe doctrine was unilateral

Quote about police policy was theodore roosevelt

Haymarket square is the answer with the work hours/ workday

All I remember for MLK birmingham was that the answer was B

The population chart showed the population doubling every 20 years or so, as no graph showed food production or such choice E about multusian theory is incorrect.

The 2 questions about nixon are as follows
1.) He claimed that executive privilege could keep him from disclosing things to congress
2.) He visited china

Dixiecrats abandoned the democrats because the democrats moved to support civil rights plank

1920 city population was an answer

again, this test was pretty easy, ill try to answer any other questions u guys have

i think i put impoverish.

Yup, yup.

Executive privlege, for sure.

mastermind93

I put something about african americans… not sure though

I’m pretty sure it was “protected agriculture trade”.

Which of the following new deal acts had long range effects?

Works Project Adminisrtation
Tennesse Valley Authority
Civilian Conservation Corp

I put the first one but im really not sure…it could be tennesse cause it made dams to produce inexpensive electricity.

FloatesMcgoates: did you put impoverished for 89?
and how sure r u of MLK?

@FloatesMcgoates
That was so helpful, thanks!! :)

Question about FDR and LBJ regarding new deal/great society

LBJ’s great society included civil rights, the New Deal did not.

Another answer regarding the new deal I just remembered

The New Deal thing that dealt with long term economic problems rather than short term employment is the Tennesee Valley Authority as it provided electricity and other essentials to the impoverished south.

I think I missed these:

How did rice get to North Carolina??? I put from Asia but I’m assuming it’s not…

The Cherokees and those other indian tribes that start with C’s come from the eastern woodland peoples. random. although i do remember the cherokees lived in the east because of jackson and the worcester v. georgia case… whatever

btw the answer to mercantilism was that certain colonial products were protected (britain funded the production of certain crops)
The Nixon watergate one was that “Nixon asserted executive review” or something like that, so yeah he denied the rights to congress
yes, i put choice B for the MLK question (carry out the demonstration despite opposition from people who demand patience)

Ya I put the TVA for that one as well.
