Discuss May 2012 Critical Reading Questions here

What was the experimental?

lets just use the official thread-- that way we don’t need to check 4 at once. we all took all 3 sections anyway…

Vocab I remember (definitely correct)

Sinecure (talking about some woman’s difficult job)
Inured (in order to work in some place you need to become accustomed to abuse)
Serendipity
Laconic (few words)

@MichaelGScarn

I got the same answers!
Anyone remember the Queen Victoria and her ring one? I had no idea what the answer to that one was lol.

The ring one was ‘inside of it’ or something like that because she wanted to hide the pictures.

@MichaelGScarn I got those answers too
@zzzzzz concealed or something.

Did anyone have a question with the mathematicians solving that one problem. It was vocab

Also, can we figure out which section was experimental? please!

concealed within i think

Oh yeah I read that one over about 5 times. It was concealed within. You just had to understand that she was trying to hide it since it was embarrassing or something

@drac313: I put the answer choice with VEX in it… how about you?

from the other thread:

my four CRs (i had exp):

instant messaging/texting (2 passages)

fluoride in water (2 passages)

girl was given three presents

something about the solar system?

@drac13
I got vexing

@like
I think it was the 25min double passage section. The one where all of the questions surprisingly were in the right order.

I put the vexed one too! And yup, got all of those vocab ones too. About the girl and the presents though…what was the irony? And parents attitude? And for the one about scientists being like artists, which characteristic did they not have?

Vocab. was challenging.

Passages were very easy, I couldn’t believe how easy and straight forward the answers and questions were for the instant messaging/texting passages.

@lily i said they didn’t have logic or something

the girl and the presents i thought the irony was that the one the mom cared about the least was most significant

@lily
-She valued the gift that her mother valued the least
-Parent questioned her choices while she reflected favorably on them
- Inherent Logic

Yep, it was vexing/stymied

@onlyshallow I also got that for the irony question

@lilyy96

I got that they were presented as not being inherently logical. It was talking about how they acted on hunches

Also I said that her mom questioned her decisions while she was something of their consequences
