Uhmm I wouldnt I have skipped 5 and got about 3 wrong from forum…but that still gives you a shot even if you got 10 wrong…I’m not saying you got 750 or higher…but there’s still a chance you got a good score
“The year 1940 signaled a final turning point for isolationism. German military successes in Europe and the Battle of Britain prompted nationwide American rethinking about its posture toward the war. If Germany and Italy established hegemony in Europe and Africa, and Japan swept East Asia, many believed that the Western Hemisphere might be next. Even if America managed to repel invasions, its way of life might wither if it were forced to become a garrison state. By the autumn of 1940, many Americans believed it was necessary to help defeat the Axis — even if it meant open hostilities.”
What was Thomas Paine/Declaration of Independence
Was African American migration question labor unions or northern black newspapers?
Can you elaborate on Thomas Paine question?
The answer to the Ford company one was the one about how they had a wide variety-- in the 1920s they only made a black Model T Ford and some people got tired of it (it also connects into conformity since everybody had the black Model T)
And what was the African American question asking again?sorry my memory is really bad lol
what about the quote about the inner light? was that pragmatism or transcendalism
Feminist quote was not Phyllis. It was Betty Friedan.
the position of american society in ww2 in 1940 was most definitely isolationism- this changed after pearl harbor which was in 1941
@ComputerAge do you remember the exact quote or at least a part of it? i wanted to look it up
I think the Thomas Paine question was something along the lines of how it and the Declaration of Independence were related? Not sure…the African American question was All of the following except one was a cause of Great migration for blacks. I’m pretty sure it was between -northern black newspapers encouraged southern blacks to move north and -national labor unions didn’t allow African Americans to participate

1940 Public support on the war: kind of a turning point year in isolationism… not sure
Roosevelt 3rd party gets Wilson elected because?
a couple questions about antebellum era…
When the Europeans first arrived, maize has JUST been domesticated in America. That was the correct answer. The fur trapping one is wrong bc it said commercial fur trapping and the tribes that trapped fur didn’t really do commerce until the French came over.
@commielover - Roosevelt/Wilson was the split in the party, I think desegregation was Truman, everyone else put GI bill for housing boom, not sure about gag rule (I put Texas, but wild guess), tolerance of natives, and apparently Transcendentalism was right, but I circled Great Awakening
@seahawks1212 if you look at my previous post, online sources have said that 1940 marked the turning point of American sentiment, even before Pearl Harbor/Lend-Lease due to what was going on in Europe
@commielover It was calhoun. FDR most likely wrote that quote. Gag rule was with abolition. Californy was about mexican american war. The west did not have diverse ethnic and social groups. Truman desegregate military. Unions being open to blacks was wrong. Roosevelt’s candidacy split the vote for the republican party so democrats won. antebellum question was tricky but most of the answers were incorrect because it was about issues about abolishing slavery that had already happened (antebellum=post civil war).
@fireonice
The isolationist tradition in America, as it was manifested from 1939 to 1941, was based on two fundamental doctrines: avoidance of war in Europe and unimpaired freedom of action. Isolationism differs from pacifism (a refusal to sanction any given war), and one could call for strong national defense, seek overseas territories, and demand economic spheres of influence and still he an isolationist. To be sure, isolationists and pacifists often joined forces, and the onslaught of the European war saw a renewal of this tenuous alliance. It was, however, always a marriage of convenience.

Man, I came out feeling “eh” and then I read some answers here and I started feeling better, but as more and more answers come in, I’m starting to feel “eh” again…
Jeez, I cannot type today, have to edit every post lol
@commielover what was the “area gained through mili” question? Also, the maize thing may not be right (not sure) because that was mostly in Mesoamerica, while it seems like the fur trade already developed before European contact. Also: Calhoun, economic quote was FDR, inner light was transcendentalism, gag rule was about abolitionism, treaty was probably thomas jefferson/LA purchase, GI bill seems right, Californy was probably Missouri senator who wants states to go to Union, for the west question I feel like the answer was one of the ones you didn’t list, deseg was Truman
