May have helped someone cheat on their test, will I get rescind?

A girl I had crushed on ask me to help her with some physic homework weeks ago. The works were really long and tedious but I did it anyway. Weeks later it turns out I was helping her on a test, and the teacher wants to chat with her because she shared it with her friend. I have no idea it was on a test, but it’s pretty much my words against her if she decides to confess. We went to schools in different districts but the schools are like 5 miles away. I deeply regret my decision but would I get in trouble for helping her?

If she reveals that it was you that helped her, yes, you could get in trouble. But possibly a warning, and possibly a warning that does not go on your record. Of course, she may not give your name.

I think it would be a problem even if it had not been a test. There are ways to help people with work, without doing it for them, but often that kind of tutoring requires training. It is unclear whether you “helped” her or did it for her. If you helped her with reasoning, that is different from giving her answers. So we don’t really know what happened.

Once you are in college, this kind of thing becomes very serious. Though sometimes working in groups is sanctioned. Colleges now give a warning and require education on plagiarism and cheating first.

OP is a sock puppet. Closing thread.
