I’m going to apply to UMass Amherst as a freshman, but I’m required to have my high school send an official copy of my transcript to them.
May my school send my transcripts via fax?(I live in South Korea, in case this is somehow relevant)
I sent them an email, but I’m posting here as well in case they don’t reply early enough.
If your school has Naviance, that would be the best way to send the transcript. A fax may be acceptable if you have proof that is official or the contact info. of your counselor. I would try to wait for the school to respond though.
Unfortunately, we don’t have Naviance.
However, the transcript will have the school’s address, phone number and fax number(and the school’s name, of course). Also, it will have the principle’s stamp on it.
I think that will be fine. Can your school also email them to your admissions rep? The email can say dear Sir or Madam, We sent X’s transcript via facsimile on 12/27 and are attaching them to this email for your convenience…
Why can’t your school send an official sealed paper copy of your transcript? That is how this used to be done back before Naviance. If your school doesn’t want to pay for the cost of express mail service, then give them the money to cover that cost.
Nope. This won’t work for most reputable colleges. Unfortunately far too many doctored transcripts come out of Korea, which has ruined it for the honest folks… A sealed, signed transcript through the mail is the way to go.
UMass Amherst replied. They won’t take international fax. Luckily enough, this was after I decided to just mail the transcript, sealed and all.
Thank you for your inputs!
