Post your improvements on the May SATs

Jan. 1940-->May 2210

Wow. I did barely ANY extra prep.

march - 2000
may - 2140

October PSAT > 1760
May SAT > 1910

congrats everyone. especially flex. dying to know what you did.

inyczreflex!

good job!!!
but i agree with stix2400, how did u improve that much?

i got a 1980 this time and it was my first, so i'll retake it and ANYTHING over 2100 would be amazing!

great job inyczreflex! I hope to go up the same amount you did when I retake the SATs in October!

Like everyone here, share with us what you did =]

D got a 1700 in Jan and 1770 in May....she might retake in October but that will be it. She is not Ivy League bound and is in the ballpark for the schools she is interested in applying to so she'll take the 1770 if that's as good as it gets.

1720 to 1880 for me. If this is a trend, I should get a 2040 next time lol

Writing is easy to improve. I used Rocket Review, it has good grammar tips and also has the 10 or so grammar errors that occur frequently on the SATs.

Math. If you have the easy questions down then practice the hard questions. Barrons SAT review and 2400 is good. Barrons 2400 has good tips to find the answers to questions that seem a lot more strenuous than they really are.

Critical Reading is all about discipline. You should practice critical reading and make sure to absorb every word you read so that you only need to look at the passages when you need to. For the short passages that don't require you to compare the two short passages you don't need to read the passage, just look at the question and look for the answer in the passage. Don't spend too much time on vocab.

Barrons Vocabulary list has lots of useful words.
