May SAT 2011: CR Section

If I had an entire long passage about a shy girl who was afraid to talk in class and then was given advice by someone named Mrs. Flower… is it likely that it was experimental??

Sorry for my idiocy, but i didn’t know they told us it was experimental on the test… couldn’t we just not do that section if we knew that?

@sauternety36
i believe that’s the first question in the reading section

    -STILL WAITING TO CONFIRM THE “early attempts” question

@jd989898
they don’t tell us which one is experimental

@jd - yeah, that definitely wasn’t on mine. and i don’t think they tell you, i had no idea that they even put them in there until i read about it on here.

to bring up the questions from the time and space passage
i chose evening schools
cuz i vaguely remember the passage saying same space but more time or something along that line…

I really don’t think it was “gifted artists of the paleolithic period”, correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t another answer choice something like “playful teenagers”?

All I remember is, is that the guy said they were not the Michael Angelo of their time, which would mean that they’re not gifted artists… I don’t know what the correct answer is, but from what I remember, I think the “gifted artists” answer would be wrong

Wait…I don;t think the "Meditation " answer is correct…

The sentence is : Someone’s film Love and Anarchy was a _____ of its title, touching upon the BLAHBLAH and BLAHBLAH subjects without discussing them…

If it is a meditation…that means the author have given the subject much thoughts, right?? But apparently he just touched upon the subjects without deeply thinking about it…

I put down “critique” of its title, because i think the tile “anarchy” can be used to describe the poor planning of the film…

Just saying…

^I still stand that the gifted one right because the question WAS NOT ASKING WHAT GUTRHIE THOUGHT IT WAS ASKING WHAT THE “MANY SCIENTISTS” WHO DISAGREED WITH GUTRHIE AND THOUGHT THE PAINTINGS WERE DONE BY MICHELANGELO SO THEY WOULD WOULD LIKELY AGREE WITH THE AUTHOR OF PASSAGE ONE.

I’m 99% positive it’s meditation…

Guys all the vocab on the list i complied are 200% correct. theres really no point debating the correctness of them… we just need to find the rest of them so we can hit the 67 mark faster.

@JBCHUN - yeah, that’s correct.

@jd989898 - i remember that one now! was the question asking about guthrie or the others though, i don’t remember if i put teenagers or skilled artists…

@halfajojo - meditation was definitely correct, the sentence wasn’t exactly that. i can’t remember the wording, but i’m positive meditation fit.

that question that asked about what the use of lights is “blurring” was really hard for the SAT…

@Sorrow

OMG…I can’t believe I totaly missed out "comtemplating " in the sentence…Its 100% meditation then…how stupid can I be…

Anything new guys? I REALLY wanna discuss the cave passage…

You forgot the following:

The purpose of the dolphin passage.

The question with the “impressionistic view of the city”

Thanks!! wait… what was the purpose of the dolphin thing again? and also what was the impressionistic question from?

im going to dispute the “bursts and smoke” which is actually correctly supposed to be called “smoke and sparks” from the book “among whales” by roger payne, and the “aesthetic power” one
i think the first one is “science seems magical” and the second one as “diversity of content”
i also think the first jazz question’s answer was something that had the word “precede” in the answer choice
any takers?

i got what i posted and if you read the REALLY early posts <(haha sorries) there was a giant debate but i think the aethestic power as well as smoke and sparks are correct… not sure about the jazz one though.

@sauternety

The cave question that talks about the accessibility of the paintings. Readily available…

The reason people are so fascinated with the drawings…

The skilled artists vs. Familiar technique…

Any other?? Someone help me I can’t do this myself!!
