I have a question: Are subject tests taken right after you finish the normal SAT??

You can’t take the SAT and subject tests on the same test date, so I guess the answer is no. You can take up to three subject tests on a test day, or only the reasoning test. Not both.

Guys, how did you solve the volume area problem? I have it correct, but I did it using the calculator and trying with numbers. I am sure that there is another way to solve it.

I don’t know about the volume one (omitted it) but for the 1/a + 1/b:

Cross multiply so they have a common denominator. a/ab + b/ab then simplifies to
(a + b)/ab. They had numbers for both of those, I don’t remember what they were… but you just plugged in and simplified.

I got the same thing as a couple other posters before me for the volume question as well, I don’t understand how the answer can have an exponent in it. I thought the question asked the relationship between the AREA OF A FACE OF A CUBE to the HEIGHT OF THE CUBE. If the question asked this, the answer is definitely V=A*h, so directly proportional. I’m so confused.

what kind of score would be a -2 for section do you guys think? i had a -5, and got a 720 in dec.

Let x=length of a side.
V=x^3
A=6x^2

So A^3/2=6V. It’s proportional because the 6 will be your constant.

can someone explain to me the 1/n+1?

obviously you are not an engineer the factor of proportionality will be 6^3/2 because (a/6)^3/2=V so a^3/2= 6^3/2 V

vocabulary: do you remember the question for vocalization? what was it?

minipassages:
jazz: is it really personal creativity? i was down to that and i think something like it is a long process or some sort of process.

whale: is it really all except her motivation? ugh i ran out of time and quickly guessed on i think something previous to her whale research or something like that.
do you remember the question for speed/pace of activity? it was probably some easy question i cant remember answering now
“Behavioral pattern shows intelligence clue (It’s abt why people watch those animals play)”- what were the other answer choices? i cant remember this as well

time/space: “Have the reader view human history visually (it was the look, watch, hover question)”- what were the other answer choices?

black concert: Great migration: belonging. i was down to that and new lifestyle. is it really belonging?
do you remember the question for lifting barriers? probably an easy question i forgot about by now

everything else seems right! thank you! this is not solely directed to you and you can ignore it. lol it would just be nice to figure out some of the debatable ones. cr really didnt seem too bad at all after discussing the answers. hope i got 600+ since the march one had a brutal curve

Here’s the (kind of) consolidated list from the CR thread

Minipassages

Jazz Passage (2)
- learning Jazz is a demanding activity
- personal creativity(reason: there was something like “ordeal”…)

Video Games passages (3)
- Video games can transform players
- 1st passage analyzed a topic and 2nd passage said it was harmful

Big passages

Whales Passage (8)
- Purpose: don’t really remember the options, but it was def NOT how the author became interested in whales
- Using analogies and metaphors in writing
- Bursts and smokes meant scientists put in much effort already
- Mentioned all EXCEPT motivation to study whales( I don’t recall this very clearly but I think I put something like"WHY the author switched to whale study", could someone plz address this one?)
- Speed/pace of activity
- Appreciation of some obvious limitations
- Offer a likely train of thought
- whale’s play might not be perceived as what it is at first sight…

Time/space Passage (7)
- the general idea question: The expansion of nighttime or something like that( I thought this one was pretty easy but I cannot recall the exact wording for the correct answer, could anyone help with this one?)
- Blur between day and night
- Evening schools
- Imagery described contrast between day and night
- Have the reader view human history visually
- “both” refers to Available space and usable time
- Rhythm - biological pattern

Black Concert (12)
- Bears: proceeds
- Exuberant celebration for the high schooler
- Cherry blossoms: wild
- Crowd of people: unrelenting force( I am not
so sure about this one though, I put indefinable landscape…discussion?..) - Great migration: belonging
- Waiting for lifetimes: generations

Cave Paintings Passage (10)
- Credibility
- Aesthetic power( this one is quite debatable. I put diversity of content and I am trying to recall some more concrete evidence)
- Beauty is eternal: reverent
- Playfully careless
- Sympathetic( there’s still debate about this one but the correct answer is most likely sympathetic)
- General agreement( is this the final consensus? I put cautious acceptance… Could anyone address this one plz?)
- Evocative and moving
- emphasize paradox
- Gifted artists of the Paleolithic period ( this is most likely author 1’s point and the correct answer. But further debate is needed)
-natural historian( other options were: early attempts by accomplished artists , data for art historians)

It might be better to check out the section specific topics I guess XD

Omgggg same it took me like five minutes to realize that you had ti subtract the total by income r whatever, and by the point I wasted so much test time!

Guys, was the math experimental the one with the metals, volume to surface area and boat one?

^ i don’t remember any of that so it probably was.

Do you remember a problem with a star, a problem with 2 triangles and with 18 different ways to get numbers over 500?

I remember that one. I HATE that they torture us with an experimental section as well. Ain’t it enough that we have to go through hours of ball-busting to comprehend the crappy text extracts they choose and the ambiguous sentence completions? Plus the tricky math that doesn’t really measure squat, just if you’re good with figuring out tricks. Is that what college math is like? What about differentiation and integration?

i had the star and 500 section and i didn’t have experimental math.

What was your experimental?

Mine was Critical Reading experimental. I had a whole passage about “document” photography during the Great Depression. I don’t know of anyone else who had this passage.

I had a writing experimental… I believe it was the one that had the Shah Jahan/Taj Mahal sentence… did anyone else have that?
