@demorrin Oh, sorry everybody if that’s the case! I don’t mean to. I just wanted to say hard work will pay off and everything is possible if you work on it. Sorry, I didn’t make that clear.

There’s a weird mixture of happiness and frustration I’m feeling right now since my PSAT predicted I would have a 1950 on the SAT lol. I got a 2110 on first sitting. Should I consider retaking the SAT? Or should I focus on ECs? I was aiming for 2250 or up as I would like to be high match to low reach for UChicago and Emory.

I know UChicago accepts superscores though so that’s reassuring

Mine dropped so much … 2000 to 1860… I thought I could get 2050 at least… Any suggestions what I should do for the next SAT?

It was the 2nd time I took the SAT and I improved all of them but still I need to improve them more!
CR: 540 (english is not my first language!) Math: 690 and WR: 650…I am mostly disappointed by my Math score…
Can these get me in universities like Georgia Tech? And also any suggestions on how to improve? (I was quite confident that I had practised enough but obviously I needed more!) Thanks!

@luckyguy7: You should get the Collegeboard SAT Blue Prep Book. That thing became my bible in preparing for this.
@elpel12: Georgia Tech’s Class of 2018 had an average (emphasizing this) SAT score of 2185. Your 1880 is a strong score for a non-native English speaker, but will make Georgia Tech a low reach for you rather than a high match. I strongly encourage you to prepare more and take it again.

Sounds like a genius. It’s okay though! @Micc doing duke tip by any chance?

.

@Micc I just got some great tips about CR suggesting a book and website called The Critical Reader. From my perusal on Amazon it looks like a good system and I’m going to keep the tip in my back pocket in case my daughter expresses a desire to raise up her CR (she’s a little lopsided 690/800/760).

I hope your son takes advantage of CTY. My daughter did 6 summers of camp and it was an enormous blessing. The online courses and the family trips are wonderful too!

@demorrin, no duke, but he did a few CTY courses.
@VSGPeanut101, thanks for your tip! I will make notes of it. Congrats on your daughter.

I was a bit taken aback by my low writing score (8E) because I have always had the best scores in writing on the practice tests . I’m an international student and our system is a bit different in that I have not had any math courses in 3 years(since 8th grade) ; so my math skills were a but rusty. A little bit of practice and i hope i’ll improve my math and writing scores … :)

2400 :)

@observeraffect
Your scores add up to a 1980, not a 2080

Do colleges see the essay score?

I got 1900(570CR/780M/550W). I feel disappointed since i thought my W would be much higher and my CR would be 30,50 point higher. But it is my 1st time and i studied all by myself so i hope i will have a “great” summer studying SAT. Any recommend for me to boost the score to 2k1~2k2?

@imagineer10 I just used a calculator to add them up again. It’s a 2080.

EDIT: I see what went wrong. My writing score is 670, not 570. Sorry about the confusion over that.

CR-700
Math-800
Writing-780 Essay-10
Total-2280 . Egyptian International over here. Improved in all sections.Last time November (650/740/700) and Essay- 10.
Few tips from my experience- 1. Confidence on test day matters. 2.Guided Practice . If you have like a month or so for each test (Like I did) focus on your strong sections. For instance back in november i focused on cr during the month before the exam which cost me precious points on my very strong Math and Writing. For May I didn’t do anything in cr except to brush up strategies and practice few passages 3 days before the test. 3. Know what books to get.Look online for people’s experience. (for eg I used Direct Hits for the MAY test and i bumped into 5 or 6 words which i had seen in the books) . 4 If you are stuck in the 2000-2100 range and you already know all the strategies, Prepare using more difficult but similar material ( I used a GMAT book for the writing MC. On may 3rd I came out sure of all my MC’s but one. ) I know it’s brief but hope it helps you guys

2200 (680/780/740) First time actually pretty happy… wonder if should take again… does superscore mean they take the best of individual sections and then add them together… hybrid…???

@dobsieguide yes it does

@PuzzledPimp hey , i am an Egyptian student too and i need your advice. i improved my score 690 points since the first time i took it 1080 ( 270 R , 390 M , 420 W ) to 1770 ( 520 R , 600 M , 650 W ) . do you think it’s possible to get 1900 on the upcoming june test ? , even though it’s in less than 2 weeks . i really thought i would get 1850 + in may but i had some problems sleeping the day before the test so i was half asleep when i took it . also is it just me or did you also think that the curves were extremely harsh , i always score about 640 + on my math practice tests and i really thought i would get at least 640 in math . and did you think that the writing section was very tricky or is it just me ?? plz reply i really need some help right now since i am deciding whether or not i should take SAT 1 again in june . THANK YOU
