maybe a dumb question

I'm working on applications. When you plan on continuing an activity your senior year do you check off/write about it as if you have already participated in that activity? What happens if you decide not to do it?

Depends on the activity. But given the amount of space provided you should really only put things on that you are HIGHLY involved in and would not be able to/want to quite/not participate in.

But putting down that you're going to do an Intel project and then NOT doing it, etc. would be considered dishonesty.

Well what I mean is that I ran track in 9th and 10th grade, then I took a year off in 11th grade. But I plan on running spring of 12th grade. Should I put that?

yes, i think you should.

Keep in mind that you can submit your application during your senior year and will have some time that you were either involved or not involved.

This is in the spring though. My applications would already be submitted.

Just put an asterisk there and tell them you plan to continue the activity.
ie:

Track (9,10, [12]*)

*I plan to participate in Track during the spring season.
