If it helps any, I do qualify for Palmetto Fellows, which is the top state scholarship for SC students. My guidance counselor also acknowledged that Clemson admissions at our schools seemed to follow Fellows status. Also @carolinamom2boys SC just moved to 6 point scale last year, and there aren’t enough AP classes available to have a GPA that high. I am not aware of anyone with a GPA higher than 5.1
2 years ago our valedictorian had over a 5.2 when it was not a 6 point scale @clemsonfan803
^ He may claim whatever he was. But after reading his responses in other threads, I would not spend time on reading his comments anymore.
^ What is that suppose to mean? I can put my money where my mouth is, unlike someone like you who gives out information based solely on conjecture. I have taken a look at some of your other posts and you are one of those very individuals who dish out random numbers that people actually listen to. You are the one people should be wary of. Look at the quality of my feedback and compare it to yours which is clearly based on a one minute google search for stats. Nothing more than published numbers (Again). You are exactly the type of person I am talking about here. I see why you are offended.
It’s a responsibility not to mislead kids with comments such as, 1000% certainty. Anyone with admissions experience knows nothing is set until the final entry in the file. All sorts of institutional and competitive factors can play, up until then.
^^^ That is exactly my point all along. Not only in this thread, but in thousands of others, people constantly tell students about their chances based almost exclusively on numbers/stats. My whole point in saying I am 1,000% sure is that most times people on these forums forget the human element which matters a lot as well. But once again, you guys focus on the numbers, the fact that I said 1,000% matters more than anything else I wrote. It’s like nothing I said mattered. I did not say anything wrong or misleading. The OP had Clemson as a match and others tried to dispute this. You guys were so quick to try to tell this student he had poor chances everywhere he applied when in reality his chances are right in the middle of the pack depending on his overall application package. I still stand by my claim that Clemson will admit this student just like you guys can say he will have a tough time. Again, my whole point here is that telling students that they have this chance and that chance is not really reflective of competitive admissions process because you can’t quantify the human element based on generalities.
It’s one think to tell a student they have a good chance of admission, it’s a completely different one to practically guarantee it with a 1000% chance. I would be hesitant to assume that the other members of this thread received their info through a Google search. I know I received mine from an admission’s officer from Clemson during my son’s application process. I also happen to live in SC and am familiar with the grading scale used in this state @AdmissionsTrack
