Sorry for the desperate title, but i believe the internationally accepted distress call might bring me help faster than any other title. (i believe, might even be wrong). Nevertheless, I'll get straight to the point :-

I am a student from India and have completed my 10+2 this year, CBSE board with a percentage score of 93.2% . I am extremely interested in physics and want to make a career as a theoretical physicist. I have also given JEE advanced this year and am expecting a rank between 4000-6000 AIR. My 10th score amounts to 93% an my Problem Solving Assessment report (conducted by CBSE ) records my language proficiency and comprehensive skills with 99.4 percentile.

I am in need of urgent help as i am confused as to which university or institute i should apply to. I know that i'm late for foreign universities but there are some which offer autumn start. Please guide me so that my precious year is not wasted on unworthy colleges. Also, please inform me about the required examinations i need to take for foreign universities.

I'm interested in taking admission in Cambridge's Kings college, is that possible with my present report ?
I've not given SAT or TOEFL, but i can in upcoming months, and i'm sure of good results as my "MOCK" SAT scores are usually in range 2250-2300.

Hoping for prompt replies,
Regards
Ray Shefh

Ok… apart from just viewing my records… don’t you people have any idea which might help me… any college suggestions ?? any advice ??? nothing !!

Change the title of your post. Mayday is a request for emergency help. This is not an emergency. No one can predict what or where you should go until you take the SAT or ACT.
For US universities, students beginning the fall semester were admitted in the Spring.

ok… lets be clear… it is a n EMERGENCY situation…

Okay, a few things:

-I can’t think of any universities that would grant you admission now for the Fall 2014 semester. There are a good number that could grant you spring admission, but not fall admission.
-I don’t know much about UK universities, so I can’t really help on that front.

I’m a little familiar with the Indian education system, and it seems like your test scores are quite good. If your SAT scores don’t change, then here are a few schools with some good physics programs:

*University of Illinois- Urbana Champaign
*University of California - Santa Barbara
*University of Washington (Seattle)
*Pennsylvania State University
*University of Colorado-Boulder

And of course, there’s always the top-tier schools like MIT and UC Berkeley, but I didn’t add them to the above list because they’re really hard to get into no matter what your stats look like.

I suggested state universities because many of these schools do have a spring admissions program (if you want to go to Penn State, your application has to be in by November 1st).

Bear in mind that if you need financial aid, your chances of getting into these schools go down quite a bit.

If you want more options for schools with good physics programs, check out this list:
http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-science-schools/physics-rankings

It does rank graduate school programs, but many times, if a school has a good graduate program, then the effects trickle down into the undergrad system.

Hope this helped!
