MBA between Texas A&M international and UHCL

My name is Akkawuth, Thai student from Bangkok. Now, I have got I-20 from these universities but haven't decided yet which school I should enroll. I need som comment of these universities, which one has better reputation in MBA Finance or better study enviroment including resources.

If someone has graduated from there or is a current student, please share your experience.

Thank you.

Neither of these schools have strong brand recognition so I doubt you will get many good responses. I’m from Texas, and frankly, I had never heard of either school. Off the top of my head, I can think of 15 to 20 more prominent universities in the state of Texas.

Doing a quick search, it looks like Texas A&M Int has had higher avg GMAT scores in the past (like 600+, where UHCL has had 500+). I think you’re going to have to research. (research GMAT scores, avg yrs work experience, anything relating to careers/salaries if available). I’m assuming both have very small MBA classes.

Is there a specific reason that you are getting an MBA? My concern is whether either of these Universities will help you achieve your long term goals.

In regards to TAMIU, wikipedia states:

"The School of Business was named a “Best Business School” by The Princeton Review in its 2006 edition of “Best 237 Business Schools.” The 2008 edition of “The Best 296 Business Schools” by The Princeton Review "

Texas A&M Int is in the Texas A&M system which I assume is a positive (in terms of resources). UHCL is located in Houston which is a huge positive compared to TAMIU which is located in Laredo (which I haven’t heard many positive things about).

On a positive note, I believe the violence across the border at Nuevo Laredo has subsided in the past year (but if u go to Mexico, it’s advisable to not wear a lot of bling).
