Carleton is one of many schools on my list right now, and it has many things which I love, however, I haven't seen anything regarding it's placement into grad schools, specifically MBA schools. Carleton is extremely competitive as a school overall, is in the midwest, and I'm sure does extremely well placing into the sciences. However, as I expect to end up going on to get an MBA after undergrad(though that segment is thoroughly undecided), I would like to know how exactly Carleton performs in that area.

Only a handful of Carleton students are even interested in business school (there is no business major), so the school doesn't send a lot of people to MBA programs. And most top MBA programs require substantial work experience before you can even apply, so I really don't know how much emphasis they put on your undergrad.

MBA programs don't really look that much at undergrad, and they won't really differentiate between elite schools. (They wouldn't favor Cornell over Vanderbilt, or vice-versa)

However, post-college work experience, which is what MBA programs REALLY look at, is fairly contingent on undergrad. Getting recruited into a top firm (IB, consulting, etc. if that's even what you want) from Carleton is going to be somewhat of an uphill battle, based on geographics, and that it is not a target school, but it is definitly doable.

If you are putting a lot of eggs in the "Top MBA Program Right out of Undergrad" basket, I would warn against that. The few people who are accepted to Top MBA programs from undergrad usually have a few of the following:
-Serious business experience during college (starting successful business)
-High level and willing connections (Which even most who think they have, don't have)
-Some sort of amazing quality about them that can convince B-School admissions that they are more qualified to be in a management position right out of undergrad than the already super-qualified applicants with 4-6 years of work experience under their belt.

I'm not going to go and assume you don't have these things, however, even with a few of the pluses listed above, there are more feasible routes to a top MBA program. Since Carleton is non-target, and rural, you will have to work your a** off just to get a nod from top "pre-MBA" employers/recruiters, and then continue to work hard from there on.

I am fully aware of the work experience needed to get into many of these programs. However, some schools have more of a culture towards some subject or another, and with that create internships and other things to be utilized. Williams is a rural LAC, but places many people into top MBA schools due to excellent placement into good companies out of UG.

That is what I was refering to. And thank you for your input, though it doesn't seem like Carleton is a very good fit career wise, even if it seems fine as a school. Thanks for the responses.
