Does anyone know whether or not the new scoring change for the 2011 exams will make the AP tests more or less difficult?

It shouldn’t affect it too much. You’ll get a higher raw score but the curve will be higher. As long as you’re not on the border between scores, you should get the same score.

Thanks! Also, do you know whether or not the old (1990s) AP Exams are easier than the newer ones? I got a 5 on the 1999 AP Biology test that I did for practice, so is it comparable to what I will get on the actual one in May?

A good way to find out would be to download last year’s FRQ questions and compare them with the 1999 version. It wouldn’t cover the MC section but it should prove reliable. If it’s harder than the 1999 one, don’t fret too much because getting a 5 already means you’re pretty darn good at biology. You have over 10 days till the exam so brush up on your FRQ and cram some last minute knowledge :p

By the design of the tests and the purpose of the curve, a person with a given amount of knowledge who is capable of getting a 5 one year should be able to get a 5 every other year.
