Does anyone know how big of a diffrence there is in the average SAT scores at MCAS vs. CSOM? I scored a 1430 on the SAT and I am wondering if applying to one or the other will greatly change my chance at getting in.
MCAS is definitely easier to get into, although your SAT score is definitely competitive for both schools. I would guess that the difference isn’t that large. Excluding athletes, I would guess the average for MCAS is 30-50 points out of 1600 lower.
I’m a freshman and I know for my year the average accepted student SAT was low 1400s and this year’s EA was around 1450. However, the average enrolled student’s SAT is only about a 1370. While getting a higher score would help, I think a 1430 would be fine for BC. I’m in CSOM too and I know people with lower or around your score. Applying to MCAS would be easier, but if you really want to be in CSOM, apply as a freshman. It is nearly impossible to transfer in later with only a lottery sophomore year that takes around 10 students getting in.
I also find it interesting how the ACT range for both accepted and enrolled students is about a 31-34 with a 32/33 average, which is far higher than the SAT equivalent especially for enrolled stats. Anyone know why this might be?
I realize that you are trying to be helpful, but since BC does not publish the stats by college, any speculation is no more than a SWAG, and thus, not helpful.
While probably true, don’t forget that most undergrad b-schools (and engineering) favor females, and since we have no reason to believe BC is any different, gender can matter as to what is ‘easier’.
Also, top undergrad b-schools tend to favor Calc (BC), so that in itself can be a differentiator.
I was just admitted to CSOM with a 3.7 UW GPA and a 1390 SAT if that helps. I am a white, Latino male (if that is relevant).
@tylerssoares im sure you know that latino is relevant
@YoungMo sadly lol
