Hey my friend is reapplying to med school, and she's pretty disheartened because she redid the MCAT and scored lower. She took it four times and her scores were as follows: 29,31,31,28
She did her undergrad at UPenn in Bioengineering, and struggled w/ grade deflation/tough classes and got a 2.7 something GPA, but was later accepted into Tufts Biomedical sciences Masters program and got a 3.2 GPA. She's got good ec's, job experience etc.

Honestly what are her chances at any medical school? She applied to a lot of schools that are less competitive...

Also will the schools take her most recent MCAT or highest?

I don’t think she has any shot at an allopathic med school. She pretty much has a consistent record of mediocrity (poor MCAT score, poor GPA, 3.2 for a master’s program isn’t very good). She might be able to squeeze into a DO school though.

MCAT score and number of attempts are viewed as indicators of your test-taking ability. There is a lot of test taking in the medical profession from medical school into practice. Medical schools will look at her four attempts and decide that she’s not likely to do well on the various testing that every medical student will face, so she won’t even be granted an interview.

Wow okay…if she had stuck with her old 31 MCAT score and not taken it the fourth time, would she have had a shot at acceptance at any schools???
