im a high school senior and was just wondering when is the best time to start preparing for the MCAT. My uncle (who is a doctor) told me to start next summer but i think i wont be ready for the level of chem and bio on the test

just wondering if i should take my uncle's advise, or wait till sophmore year of college when im exposed to more chem and bio

Thanks

If you want to you can start looking at the MCAT material (I wouldn't buy any books yet; you should be able to find some prep books at your library). If you start as a freshman, you would probably get a better sense of what to expect, and you might be able to start prepping for the writing section of the exam. However, wait until you take all of your pre-med courses before actually taking the exam.

Right now (since you're still in high school) your main goal should be the undergrad applications.

I'm going to be a HS senior and want to go into medicine. Someone I know who's now doing their residency gave me the books they used to study for the MCAT just so I could take a look, and it surprised me that I knew a good deal of the chemistry and much of the anatomy and stuff in it. I think that you could probably start, you should at least know some of it.
