MCAT score, should retake?

I took the August 22 MCAT and I have received 30S.
PS - 12
BS - 12
VR - 6
Writing - S

(I was scoring at least a 8 on the AAMC practice tests in Verbal section.)
Should I retake the exam, and if not, how much would my verbal score hurt me?

Common consensus is that a 6 will kill you.

On the other hand, an eight is also a major problem.

A balanced score is important. A 10/10/10 would've been better.

I'm just worried that if I'll retake the test, while my verbal score may go up, my other scores may go down. Also, isn't taking the test more than once detrimental to the application?

A 6 is more detrimental.

Two MCAT scores won't kill your app. It's not great, but it won't kill your app.

A 6 will kill your app.

You can take your pick.

You should be warned that an eight is not going to be good enough. It's especially not good enough with a six on record. Further, you should also be warned that it is very normal for students to do better on AAMC tests than on the real thing -- especially on verbal

I wouldn't retake until you can be confident you can hit a nine on the real thing.

^ agreed, but you definitely need to retake. I wouldn't go so far as to say that an 8 will kill you (I had an 8 on a section of my MCAT), but it is definitely the low end of what is acceptable to apply with - a 6 won't work.

Icarus: yeah, but you probably didn't have a six first.
