Mcat valid for three years? Quesiton on Applying

I was wondering about the application process for med schools. I'm planning on taking my mcat next month, August 2011. If I apply, say Summer of 2014 (before August 2014), would the MCAT score still be valid if I get in all the apps before August. Or, does the score have to be valid throughout the entire process ie interviews and whatnot which may extend into the winter/spring of 2015?

thanks a bunch

Check the sites for admission. Usually say "MCAT scores from X date to Y date will be accepted for fall 2012.

Notice though that most of them say “3 years from the time of matriculation.” As in NOT application. Stanford and Emory and I’m positive a few others have 4 year periods, but I don’t know how common this is.

So, just do the math and fast forward it to fall 2015.
I looked up a few of the sites, and for fall 2012, MCATs taken from Jan. 2009 to Sept. 2011 are acceptable. If you expect to matriculate in 2015, you’d have to take it in Jan. 2012 or later.

By the way, why are you taking it so early?

I just finished up my 2nd year. Most likely the above will not be the case, but I was looking at some study abroads and seeing when I would graduate/if possibly applying while overseas would be tough, then I would have to do it the summer after I got back. Thanks for the advice, I’ll definitely check the sites for admission
