MCB 102 vs. MCB 100A

Which one would be better to take to satisfy the biochem requirement for med school? I also saw that Math 1A is required for MCB 100A. Would 16A-16B be enough for that class?

LOL, 16A/B are joke classes…

102 is a broader survey and encompasses the information that would be gained in both 100A & 100B, albeit at a more surface level with a few changes. Med school would take either one, so I would recommend taking whichever one satisfies the requirement for the MCB emphasis you plan on going into. As for the math in 100A, you shouldn’t worry too much about not knowing one of the mathematical concepts, 16a/b is a pretty wide survey, but you will be expected to follow along when a derivative or integral pops up. It’s easier than what you are expected to do for physics 8a/b.

Taking 102 or 100A depends on what track you’re on. 100A is known to be one of the hardest, if not the hardest, class for the bmb track of mcb. If med schools accept 102 then take 102 unless you want to go the bmb route.

That being said, if med school is your primary goal, I don’t think mcb itself is even necessary. I know a lot of people take IB that want to go to med school. I don’t really know though, that’s all hear say. But IB is generally known to be easier than MCB and the BMB track is generally known to be the hardest mcb track (and included 100A).
