Does anyone remember how hard his final is and what format its in?

isn’t it probably just like his midterms?

If you’re taking the class P/NP, what grade do you need to pass? An overall grade of C-, or D?

^C- i believe?

i think it was mostly MC and some fill in blanks when i took it. very doable if you finished the study guides

The final was dead hard!!!

harder than his midterms?

i’m in his 165 class right now, final’s on friday, was expecting same difficulty as midterms.

O_O

Can freshmen take mcb61? do you guys recommend it?

@marix123: I think people of any grade can take it. I would recommend it if you are interested in biology and are someone that always goes to class. He doesn’t post slides online and most of the test questions are straight from lecture so you should try not to miss class and take good notes.

Does anyone who has taken the course have a rough idea of how he grades the class? I know like 80% of our grade is dependent on our exam scores, but he doesn’t even tell us what we get per exam, so I have no idea how to gauge what I have/will get in the class…

catalysis: was the final’s difficulty comparable to the midterms’?

for 165, he told us the final is about 35% of our grade, but he also said he deliberately left it vague on the syllabus. that would make the other 2 midterms 45% of our grade, with 20% going to the paper. i would bet his 61 class is the same.

for 61, my gsi said the 2 midterms are worth 22.5% each and then hw, participation is 15% and the final is 40% but she also said this could all be subjected to change

Agreed; That final was harder than I expected and it seemed difficult compared to the midterms. Hopefully since he was vague how each exam is weighted for grading, he will make it friendly so that people can get A’s in the course haha.

How hard is to P/NP this class? Is it just difficult to get an A? I plan on taking his online version of this course this summer.

I have the same question as HelloAll.

^ I took the online version last summer, and I found it to be really easy… You have access to all his lectures and slides, so it really helps you study.

Is there a textbook? if so, is it useful or necessary? And what should we study from? the lectures or slides… or both…

just focus on the lecture and key concepts and you’ll be fine

so is the whole grade determined by the final?
For anyone that has taken this class online before, I’ll bee in a foreign countyr for the fist two weeks of June without acces to internet, will that put me really far behind in class?

dee-91, there’s weekly assignments. Check the syllabus.

I only found the syllabus for winter and spring semester. Does anyone know if there is one for the online summer course, and if so where can I find it? I’m not going to have internet access for the the first two weeks of june and I need this class so I need to know how it is going to affect my performance in the class. thanks
