My daughter's admission status was updated today to "Accepted" into McCombs. Needless to say, she is thrilled. She thought it might take longer with the inception of the holistic review process, but she's very gratified to have found out sooner rather than later!

Good luck to all those who have/are applying to McCombs.

What is her rank? My friend just got into Biochemistry in Natural science today as well(Top 2%). I guess the admission process is on for every major now…

I’m still waiting for Cockrell tho…but sadly i’m only top 7:( Hopefully my Oct 1st submission of my application will put me earlier in the queue, so I won’t get capped out…

I assume they are still doing the way where from all of the applications they received so far, they start from top 1% of the class and work their way downwards until 75% spot is filled for the major?

I’ve been accepted too and believe me my stats were nothing special.

Rank: 11/276
GPA: 5.07273 out of 7 (weighted)
ACT: 32 composite
AP Tests: U.S. History - 4; English Language & Comp. - 4
Senior Schedule: AP English Lit, AP Calculus AB, Co-Enrolled Chem 1411/1412, AP Stats, Band, AP Gov’t/Honors Economics

I don’t think so. I think it just depends on when you submitted everything and whether they defer you or not I think. I may have been denied from BHP, who knows.

BHP interviews will be rolling until March. The early admissions folks will be getting interview calls for all of fall. No need to panic about not getting an interview yet at all.

Rank: 7/547 (although I’m pretty sure this dropped a bit on the newest transcript; i didn’t get to see it.)
GPA: ~5.3 out of 6 (weighted), UW: ~3.98 (? APspanish4 lol)
SAT: 2220 (740 R, 790 M, 690 W)
Senior Schedule: AP Calculus BC, AP Macroeconomics, AP Government, AP Spanish 5, AP English IV, AP Physics C, AP Statistics

Type of Admission: In-state Freshman
Ethnicity: Asian (Chinese blehh)

EC’s: Stellar EC’s. I have a lot (because I didn’t like my school, so most of my time was invested in other things). All my EC’s are pretty focused and correlate really well with my work experience/volunteer service. I have some form of leadership in all my EC’s, jobs, internships, etc. Let me know if you want specifics. I don’t feel too comfortable listing everything online.

Applied October 10th
Accepted to McCombs October 26th

Good luck to all applicants! Everything will work out for the best :)

Oh wow, amazing stats! O_O No wonder you’ve been accepted already. Probably don’t have anything to worry about with BHP with those stats.

And it’s fine (regarding EC’s). I was mainly interested in your academics stats as I have no idea how EC values are calculated (or rather I, myself, can not create a score with the ECs) - just wanted to get an idea of the stats allowing people to be admitted in so early :P

If it’s any consolation, my mom’s friend is a professor at UT, and he says the top 2-3% (maybe 4 also? i don’t remember…) are basically auto-in. After that, they just look at resume stuff. They don’t even bother looking at SAT. (albeit, this is the biochem department, but he says it’s generally the same). Your 4-5% is pretty borderline, but your rank is good, so if you have leadership for your ECs, then you have a pretty good shot (Business focuses heavily on leadership).

I got accepted into McCombs sometime last week/two weeks ago, through mail. If anyone’s interested my stats were (since people had been asking others previously)
Top ~5% - 31/586
GPA - 3.9 unweighted, 5.44 out of 6 weighted
SAT - CR 800, M 770, Writing 750
EC - mainly debate, also spent some time doing Chinese Club

Does anyone know how long it will usually take to hear back from BHP? My teacher recommendation didn’t get in until about Oct 27th; does that mean I probably won’t hear back until sometime in December?

Good luck to everyone applying/who’s applied!

@sintralin, Congrats on your acceptance into McCombs. Your SAT score is outstanding and debate is a great extracurricular to be involved in, especially for business.

As for BHP, the early decision deadline was October 15. Since your Honors recommendation was received after that, it seems likely that your BHP application will be placed with those that must be in by December 1.

Thanks for the confidence boost, txex! Hoping to make business honors :)

So because the BHP application wasn’t finished in time, mine will just be reviewed with the regular deadline apps? I thought rolling admissions meant that the earlier you finished your app the earlier they would make a decision (which apparently makes it important to apply asap). Or does that only apply to McCombs/general UT admissions?
