I can answer if you would like, but I am an external transfer into McCombs

@jake18 So to answer your second question, I didn’t sign up to take any summer courses so I can’t tell you what registering for those is like, sorry. Your first question, my advisor told me they open up random spots in the business classes randomly throughout the summer access period. But, I managed to get all my classes I wanted when all classes’ slots opened up during the transfer’s orientation and after that. When I applied, my GPA was a 3.74 and I didn’t input or decide to include any extracurriculars since McCombs heavily relies on GPA for admittance. The application is easy, you can decide if you want to include extracurriculars/honors/awards, but it is optional. Other than that, you don’t have to do anything. Just click submit because mostly all they want is your GPA. I say if you shoot for above a 3.7+, you don’t really need to worry about your extracurriculars. Aim for a 3.8+ if you really want to be on the safe side. You can see how the stats for this fall were by the posts in this thread but I stress GPA GPA GPA! Good luck.

All they care about is that you have taken Calc 1 & 2, ECO 1&2, and have more than 24 hours in residence (so no credit from AP courses and no Comm College courses count towards the 24 hours). Also you probably know that CC courses don’t go towards GPA. After meeting the requirements they just pick the highest GPA’s, starting at 4.0 and going down. The average GPA for internal transfers this year was a 3.8, external 3.9. They accepted 247 transfers I believe, so I would doubt anyone with less than a 3.6 got in. In fact I know some 3.5’s who didn’t. I haven’t heard of any problems getting into ACC 311, STA 309, or MIS 301. They seem to open a new class if they need to.

Huytee and texansfan, thanks for your help!
