i had a couple of questions about the mccombs school of business and the bhp. im a good student, but i dont want to be working all the time. i want to be able to be able to have the whole college experience rather than spend all my time doing schoolwork. i also hoped to find a business school with more hands on and experience based learning rather than just listening to lectures, taking tests, etc. i know these programs are really difficult to get into but does anyone know how rigorous the courseload is, if they take up all your free time, and if they teach through hands on experience? thanks for your help in advance- i really appreciate it!

Now, I’m not in McCombs or BHP, but my understanding is it is somewhat what you are looking for. Someone in the program might be able to give you a more exact answer about their experience. But, my understanding is that the classes are smaller and are taught more like an MBA course (using cases and such). Also the business school, is really only tough to get into, but the actual work isn’t too hard.

Courseload isn’t too rigorous. Maybe study an hour or two a night. They focus more on developing team skills, networking and landing internships/jobs. Not much is done individually. Just about everything is done in a team setting. No idea what “experience based learning” is though. If you are talking about applying concepts in the real world, there are tons of internships available.

I agree with USofPlutarchy… my business classes are all based on communication skills, team work, and class discussions rather than individual work. There is still some individual work like papers, but even some of those are group-based like team proposals.
