McCombs switching to CS?

I’m a senior in high school and I’ve been currently admitted to McCombs as a business student. I was planning on majoring in finance as McCombs has one of the highest ranked programs and I find the subject pretty interesting. However, I am considering switching to computer science. I’m taking APCS right now and I enjoy the topics mostly. Regardless of what undergraduate major I am, I plan on getting and MBA so I can take on more managerial roles.

I’m looking at job and salary prospects and they seem to be more stable in the computer science field right our of college. I’m worried that with a finance degree, I might not be able to earn enough money in three years to pay for my graduate degree and the lifestyle that I want so I would have to become a cs major. Additionally, I’m worried that with a finance degree that there is not as much job security.

I have little knowledge of the finance world and how it works, but I’m not sure I would enjoy working as a CS degree for the next couple of years until my MBA.

Any advice or recommendations? And does anyone know if it’s hard to switch to CS? Thanks.

Take a look at MIS. Your first year at McCombs you take a career planning class. A lot of your questions will be answered there. CS is very hard to transfer into at UT and hard to get your classes when you are in it. You might try reading about it at the UT Reddit.
