McDaniel College

Does anyone know anything about this college? I play lacrosse and the coach talked to me last year, but we stopped talking for a while. But he just called the other day and wants me out for an official visit. I've looked into the school more and it seems like it would be a pretty good fit for me. But does anyone know anything more in depth about it before I decide to go out there? Thanks in advance.

You can look at an in-depth description of it in "Colleges That Change Lives" by Loren Pope, and it's probably also listed in Fiske. It's a small LAC, so I doubt many posters will have lots of information for you.

cool thanks

Bosox097, I replied to your "do I have a chance" thread elsewhere. My son was admitted Fall 06, successfuly completed FR year, but decided to transfer for Fall 07. He has lots of insight into McDaniel and lots of friends who still go there. If you would like me to ask my DS to help, please PM me; I know he'd be glad to provide info and connect with some of his friends who you can network with before your official visit. Take care.

Supportive environment - yes, exceptional place for students who thrive in small classes with real Professors
Easy - no, at least the core courses are heavy on the writing papers. No easy 'A' courses and no grade inflation.
Advantage - small classes, extra help, take a walk with your prof.
Disadvantage - isolated - in the middle of nowhere

I visited McDaniel this summer. I can't tell you about the academics, but the campus is beautiful. The town is your typical small college town. Middle of nowhere? I don't think so, Balitimore is about 35 minutes away, skiing 20 minutes, Washington about 90 minutes, Annapolis about n hour, so if you want to get away for the weekend, it is very easy.

Cubanmom-
Campus is beautiful, Town is small town America. But to get off campus, or get yourself home for the weekend by train/plane, a car is practically mandatory.
There's No daily public transportation to anything.
