Hi everyone, just checking in since I am home for the weekend. After much deliberation over auditions and what not last year, I decided to attend McDaniel in Maryland, which is a non audition BA in Theatre Arts. I decided to persue a dual major in Theatre Arts and Music (voice) which is more Musical Theater focused. So far I like the program alot. I am taking an Acting class this semester that is just amazing. I lvoe my teacher, who works at one of the premeire community theaters in the Maryland area, and is directing our spring play "Hot L Baltimore". I am taking a Musical Theater Dance class where we explore the whole cannon of MT dance, and I am taking private voice with an amazing teacher who is a opera Peabody grad. I am working on both opera and MT songs, and am working on alot of lesser well known songs, because she does not really like to work on songs everyone is doing, which is good. The auditions for our musical are Nov 7th. In addition next semester they are offering a MT/Opera workshop and we might be doing " A little night music" so that should be fun. I saw our fall show " Playboy of the Western world" which I was very impressed by. Amazing acting, amazing set. In addition I am taking academic classes and I liek those also. I was having a little problem adjusting to being so far away from home, but I think that will get better after a while. Overall I think it is a solid theater and MT program, that one shoudl look into if they do not want a BFA. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

So good to hear. I live in Maryland and have heard nothing but great things about the school. I have friends with kids there who are very happy. Thanks for the update.

Yes, so far it seems to be a good school, with a solid education.

My daughter has applied to Towson U. - has been accepted academically but, of course, has the audition ahead of her. I hope you don't mind if I PM you about a teacher at McDaniel who also teaches at Towson.
