Does anyone see the flip open page for McDonald's that keeps opening up?

How many times and how often do we have to keep closing it. It seems to be happening every few seconds and is the most annoying thing on CC at the moment.

I just installed adblock. I use Chrome. In fact, I was so grateful that I actually sent $10 to the developers. :)

I see it. I haven’t clicked on it because I’m afraid to click on ads in general for fear they might be some sort of site security breach. Maybe that’s irrational but I’m a scaredy- cat.

Why would anyone eat a chicken sandwich – with pickles on it – for breakfast?

I agree, ad blockers are wonderful…

I complained stridently about this late last night. And now I see it is still present. (Previously, it was present for me both signed in and not signed in. Today it is visible only when signed in.)

Here is the considerate response I received from a Super Moderator:

I guess I can try that, but my “issue” is, no one should have to. It is extremely annoying. Last night the entire fiasco prevented me from viewing some really important info on the Questbridge pages, when one of my students was on deadline. I did not and do not appreciate that. No matter how many times I clicked on “Close,” it wouldn’t close, and in fact enlarged! And that is still happening today!

I have an old laptop. I’m pretty sure that Chrome is not compatible, and I don’t know about AdBlocker, but again, it seems to me that that should be unnecessary. Static ads, i.m.o., are quite different. They’re the price for “free” websites such as this.

Even on an old laptop, Firefox will be compatible but Chrome will most likely as well. Both have free adblockers. We are running both on laptops that are over 6 years old.

McDonalds on CC? Maybe the wrong audience? Or is it a virus?

bovertine - for me it is automatically covering most of my screen and i have to keep closing it. it looks like a small flip page and then it starts opening by itself when i am moving the slider or trying to click a link.

Unfortunately I am using IE and everything is set to blocked but this is not a pop up and happening right on the page so i can’t read what is on the screen. if it is a pop up, i can leave it open and ignore it.

epiphany - i think we have the same problem.

Simple fix - install Adblocker. And stop using IE - it’s a mess all by itself. Age of the laptop shouldn’t matter.

I emailed CC, it is an obnoxious ad and gets in the way of clicking on things on the right. I can’t recall there ever being such a more in your face ad on this site.

I guess the CC administrators finally got the message that annoying ads do not encourage viewers to frequent the site. The ad is gone and I have no ad blockers.

I wonder if that ad was causing the timing and posting order issues that have been going on for a day or so.

Hopefully a CC admin with issue an update----and an apology.

tomofboston—I don’t know that they owe us an apology–the ad was a result of some malware put on their site that has caused a LOT of issues here this week. The creep that planted the malware probably owes everyone an apology though.

Has a CC admin stated that the Mc ad was malware? I don’t believe so.

Yes, they have, on several other threads and in an email I got asking about the site issues…

Really. The ads should be for In-N-Out.
