I'm a bit confused on the essay.. Briefly describe the factors that have influenced your interest in studying business.

Am i supposed to just write about what got me interested in business or can i write about why I want to go to Georgetown (McDonough School of Business) as well.

If I don't write about why i want to go to Georgetown, then neither of my essays does this. I'm applying for a few schools, and they all practically ask why you want to go to their school, so that's why I'm confused.

Just stick with the prompt. You can tie together your wanting to go to Georgetown with why you want to study business, perhaps in the conclusion or cleverly thoughout, but don’t divert from what they are asking you to do. They want to know why business period. Just talking about Georgetown’s great programs doesn’t get to the heart of what they want to know. They want someone who is motivated and likely to be successful in business not just someone who likes Georgetown.

I wrote about why business (I actually wrote about why economics) then had a paragraph about McDonough and how great it is. It was the most generic “Why this school” essay I have written and I got in.

yea i did the same exact thing ksanyee. I had a good story of what influenced my decision to study business, what i want to accomplish and a very general paragraph on how McDonough would fit me. it turned out to be a pretty good essay(in my opinion). Thx for everyone’s help!
