McGill 2009 Admissions / Scholarships

According to the admissions officer I spoke with, almost everyone is required to have midterm grades - I know I was.
Only the exceedingly exceptional are admitted without them.

Also, to the person above, almost no one gets major scholarships. I heard the statistic was <5% last year, and will be lower this year.

I'm a Canadian, so I won't hear for a while, but I just submitted my scholarship application and it feels damn good :)

Was checking my inbox everyday, and then I finally got an email around 9pm today!

Canadian High School

Accepted
Faculty of Science
Bachelor of Science

Im kind of wondering if they even read my scholarship application? I sent out my references postmarked by Feb. 6th, but it might not have gotten to them yet, and Minerva already says basic entrance award... I guess I will call and ask tomorrow!

Accepted!
Faculty of Arts, Freshman Program
US Student
760 CR
670 MA
750 WR

I wish i knew what all those stats meant! For us canadian applicants all they really want is an average... Pretty easy to calculate!

idk how to quote but fjaril026's stats are really similar to mine.

anyway I'm awaiting decision

I'm reeeeeeeeeally relieved and happy and everything good,

Good luck to everyone!

Just checked Minerva and the status still shows Further Review Required. They just received my mid-term report from US High School on the 2/10. However, now Second Semester Mid term Report is shown as not received. I don't understand why they would be requesting this before making a decision. Does that mean that the decision is deferred until the spring.

Has anyone seen or experienced this before ? Any help would be appreciated. I am really concerned about this.

i just found out i was admitted! i didn't get any email notification, i just randomly looked at minerva and it said "admitted pending final results" (because i do ib, so they have to see my final exam results). it said that they got my midterm grades today.
oh and i was admitted into faculty of arts for the bachelor of arts
oohh and i got a french citizen scholarship? i got it because i'm french, i guess, haha.

I've been flipping out lately. My mid year transcripts were processed yesterday, so I was hoping hoping hoping for an answer today. I feel confident that I will get in, but you never know. I want to know about major scholarships as well. Probably won't get one, but you never know, and you can't get one without applying. Anyone got any idea about how long it takes between when they process midyears and when they make a decision?

Zfanatic and stellitsa, to which faculty did y'all apply? I applied to the faculty of science. I've noticed that the people who have heard back in the past two days applied to the faculty of arts.

Faculty of Science... Biol,BioMed,LifeSci programs.

Is it easy to transfer between faculties? Like if I decide I want to go into Arts or something after U0? I really want to major in Neuroscience but if I don't get into that program I'll probably go to philosophy or something... I'm also considering majoring in Math, I'm just terribly afraid of the sheer difficulty of the subject. I love calculus but the idea of being a math major is quite intimidating to me.

I applied to the faculty of Arts and Management.

Any one here wanting to go to McGills med school after undergrad?

I'm not applying to med school - it's law school for me lol - but when reading the viewbook, I remember being fascinated by the idea of "Concurrent Master of Business Administration (MBA) with Doctor of Medicine/Master of Surgery (MD,CM)" - especially in a country with a public health system.

Does anyone know when the grad school admissions decisions are made by? My program's deadline was January 15.

I would kill to go to McGill's med school... that would be fantastic. Of course applying for that is like 3 year away...

Of course that's what I said when I was a freshman... college is so far away. Well it's here. lol.

Yeah, I really want to go to McGill's med. school, but the MELS never gives anyone Quebec resident status while they are in uni... Hurray for all seven Out of province people they accept!! Oh well, Im sure we could get in somewhere, with a McGill degree and all...

Accepted this afternoon :)

Do they not let you know about basic scholarships immediately if you applied for a major one? I'd think that would make sense since they wouldn't offer you a basic if they might offer you a major one.

yeah, im kind o confused by this too. I sent them all my stuff, and it said basic scholarship before they even received the main documents; though the website says that you will be informed of a basic scholarship decision within a few days of acceptance and a major decision within a few weeks of acceptance.
