I'm an Ontario student who will be receiving an IB Diploma this year.
Is it true that if I score well enough in my IB courses, I'll be forced to skip first year at McGill?
If this is true: if I want to take courses I have never taken before, such as Physics, will I be forced to take a second-year Physics course?
Is there any way at all to bypass this and go into first year?

You don’t skip 1st year…where did you hear that?

You’re given the choice to directly apply for restrictive programs (Neuroscience, Immunology & Microbio) if you’re an IB student. Other than that, I think you start off as any other student in 1st year.

Define “any other 1st year” student.

Quebec students come in with 13 years of schooling (due to grade 11 high scool diploma + 2 year CEGEP) and thus go directly to U1 (instead of U0) status and finish their B.Sc/B.A. in 3 years instead of 4.

I do not see why this wouldn’t also be true of IB students if you get enough (30) credits exemption.

ya, I would sorta like a little while to adjust.I mean I do not know how hard the first -year courses are but IB HL math doesnt seem that hard. Maybe they are equivalent. I dont know. I don’t see why they do not give us the option of first year though…
