McGill (Canada) vs NYU vs UCLA

Hey guys, I was accepted at all of my Canadian universities of choice, but unexpectedly I was also accepted at 3 UCs (LA, SD, and SB) as well as NYU.
My family isnt super well off (my fam makes like 70k a year?), so the price tag that comes with going to UCLA (after converting USD to CAD it would cost a little less than 100k) kind of lessens my interest in going there. I know that US schools in general all cost like 75k USD, but NYU offered me about 20k a year.
I’m torn as to if I should choose one of the above schools over Mcgill, especially since Canadian schools are so much cheaper (I would be paying around 27k CAD a year there)! Do you guys think studying at UCLA/NYU is worth the price tag?

(Im studying Biochemistry as my major, if that makes a difference)

Thanks a bunch!

No, McGill is a phenomenal school. Spending 73k extra for UCLA when McGill is rated marginally higher than UCLA in global rankings is absolutely crazy unless money is no object and you want to be in LA specifically and the US generally.

Don’t get yourself deep in debt to pay for your undergrad: if you end up wanting to do grad school or med school or law-school or an MBA afterwards that will be even more money to spend and even if not, you do not want to start your working career with a huge student debt hanging over you. California is great (and UCLA in particular has a great reputation for being an artsy, creative, vibrant campus in addition to strong academically), but your best bet is to just move to California or New York after you finish your degree at McGill (or go to gradschool/professional school there) and start off with minimal debt.

@xoxocatz Stay in Canada and go to McGill. Indeed, Canadians aren’t at all impressed by brand name or rankings, so you are spared the insanity of the United States. You can always go to graduate or business school in the USA.
