McGill Decisions Class of 2021 (entering 2017)

I completed my application almost two months ago. I am a bit worried because my status still is “ready for review”, and it has been reviewed not even once.

@sd4586 You are probably close to the cutoff and admissioins might not want to give you an early pass. If you have 3.90+ AND 1450 (700+ in each) plus similar scores in SAT IIs, that might be enough for McGill to give you an early nod.

We are still in Early Admission window and most people will probably have to wait another 2+ months… and maybe provide another round of interim grades.

So here’s my situation.

I’m at Reviewed-Decision Pending for about 2 weeks now. I have uploaded interim results, but they were from the latter half of S1, not its final grades. I found out today when my school is sending the full midyear grades. I will be able to print a transcript that I can upload to Minerva, which contains all my Q1 and Q2 grades plus midterm exams on Monday. The school, however, will only officially send out the grades in mid-February, which means they may not arrive until March. If I can upload the transcript by Monday, will McGill be able to look at that? Or will I have to wait until the official transcripts arrive? Is there an estimate as to how long a decision will take after the midyear grades are received?

For reference, here are my current stats:

SAT I: Reading & Writing 800; Math 710
SAT II: Math 1 740; U.S. History 790
GPA: 91.32 Weighted (School doesn’t provide unweighted)
3rd Decile
AP Scores: US History 5; Environmental Science 5
US High School
Applying to Faculty of Arts

Thanks!

I think they looked at my S’s grades that he uploaded to Minerva. (His school is slow about getting the grades out through Naviance.) 9 days after that. Keep checking and keep the faith. Your numbers are spot on.

@CosmicMaria don’t worry, i’ve noticed that it takes longer for students applying from outside the US and Canada. I applied on the first of September, my application was reviewed on the 16th of January and i got in the same day. That’s about three and a half months after i applied.

@Reevers07 I applied on December 22. I too am an international student (Indian). So I guess I will hear in late March.

@Reevers07 Oh I see. That does make me feel much better

@Reevers07 but now that I think about it, I actually applied on November 4, so it’s been exactly 3 months since then. Maybe that means that I’ll hear from them soon? fingers crossed

has anyone gotten into agricultural/environmental sciences programs?? any of the programs on the macdonald campus?

does anyone know how long it takes for the college of the arts to send an actual acceptance letter? I was accepted about 2 hours ago through the portal. And do they send it through email or snail mail?

@anniee3434 My daughter was accepted to Arts in early January. I think it took a few days for McGill post a pdf on Minerva. She has not received snail mail about acceptance but she did get an email a couple of days after it was posted on Minerva.

@anniee3434 You might want to ask @SwimmingDad, his son was accepted recently and should be able to answer any questions you have.

I have just submitted my S1 grades, hoping for answers soon!

Just accepted into Faculty of Art and Faculty of Science!

I applied November 15th, and received acceptances February 7th.
Public school in the northeast of the United States
Unweighted GPA: 3.98/4.0
ACT: 34
AP Tests taken: AP European History (5) AP Psychology (5)
Current course load: AP Physics, AP Biology, AP American Literature, AP Calculus, AP US Government
I received a PDF of the acceptance letters today, and should be receiving them hardcopy via snail mail shortly.
Good luck to everyone!

@anniee3434 Actually I don’t think my S got an email. The day after he was accepted they posted the letter in Minerva…on the same line as the status. Congrats!

(international student) My portal changed to “further review required” , and I have to upload proof of English proficiency. However, I am in an OIB French class (so I should not have to send anything) + a 720 on the English part of the SAT. I can send a TOEFL score if needed (115), but it will take some time.

I am purely confused.

@Theoddorre If they ask for something, you must submit it.

I sent my application early Jan.
International Student here for Arts and Sci. Any idea by when I might receive a decision? It doesn’t say anything like “under review” or “reviewed” on my application

Hi, I applied in October to Faculty of Arts and was just able to upload my midterm grades today. I attend an American high school…does anyone know when I should be expected to hear back?

@lenaseltzer I also go to an American high school and sent in my midterms a few days ago, I heard back 2 or 3 hours after I submitted them!

I was admitted last night to the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering, after having submitted my mid-year grades 5 days prior. On Minerva it says, “Admitted Pending Final Results.” Is that the normal acceptance?
