McGill Decisions Class of 2021 (entering 2017)

Legacy and Canadian citizenship are irrelevant. You will be evaluated as an American applicant.

@wussup they haven’t changed the meaing of reviewed decision pending

hello, anyone that is waitlisted heard back? I’m canadian but I live outside Canada and I have been waitlisted for electrical engineering.

Son still waiting on the Deasutels waitlist.

Thanks @SwimmingDad , I hope he gets in. I’d really appreciate it if you could notify me when he gets an answer. Best of luck!

@S0ME0NE His decision changed to “Cancelled by University” yesterday. Not sure if this means the waitlist closed because what it says is documentation is missing. But he had everything in other than final transcripts and proof of graduation…but that does get released by his school until the end (and the underclassmen are still taking finals). So I guess a call on Monday will occur.

@TomSrOfBoston may I ask you a question since you seem to know a lot. If waitlist does not go through how can I apply for transfer ? After my freshmen year ? Do they look at high school and college grades? Thanks for your input

@SwimmingDad That’s weird! I hope it will work out fine. My decision is still “name confirmed on waiting list”…Keep me posted!

Heard back. Denied limited space for art&sciences

Hello, I recently got accepted off of the wait list, but I’m in quite a dilemma since I’ve already been preparing myself for the school I am currently committed to for the past few months

Accepted US students, what made you choose McGill over schools in the US?

@S0ME0NE He was “Refused” yesterday…limited space available…which means he met all of the criteria but they had more applicants than spaces that met the criteria. He has his dorm…set for his sport…and has his classes (most of them!)…so he is good.

@turtle420 My S chose McGill over a bunch of U.S. schools because it best met his criteria: excellent academics, medium to large school, in a vibrant city, has some greenspace, and he can play his sport for the college. As his dad, I also love that it was the least expensive option. I also like that they really make the students step up and transition to adulthood. We felt like a number of the U.S. colleges have been designed for the helicopter parents. Good luck with your decision!

@SwimmingDad Desautels has become the most competitive program in the past couple of years, surpassing Life Sciences. It will be interesting to see the cutoffs when they are published this fall. Good luck to your son! Urge him to explore the campus and the city.

Thanks, @TomSrOfBoston. He is a city kid at heart so I have no doubt he will do a lot of exploring. I’m really excited for him. From our first step onto campus 18 months ago it was clear to me that it was a great fit for him. I’m anxious (in a good way) to see where this step takes him.

@SwimmingDad That’s good, I’m sure everything will work out fine! My status is still “name confirmed on the waiting list”… I’m not sure it will ever change lol. Best of luck to your son

@turtle420 would you mind telling me which major have you been accepted in please?

@S0ME0NE - same boat as you - “name confirmed on the waiting list” - still no news

@PEEPSMATES that’s really frustrating… Can I know which major did you apply to?

@S0ME0NE Faculty of Arts - Undeclared. I’m a US transfer

@PEEPSMATES oh ok, keep me updated… Good luck!

@PEEPSMATES what were your stats? Omg does that mean everyone whose apps are reviewed from now on are going to be put on the waitlist? I’m so scared
