I grew up on the West Island, very near St. Anne de Bellevue, which is a walk away from Macdonald campus. It’s an old village, with narrow streets…I’m sure much has changed, but it’s also one of those places that doesn’t change much, if you know what I mean.
Senneville is a historic, well to do town just to the north of campus. Great Arboretum is part of the campus, I believe.
They both have a certain rustic charm. I believe the CEGEP(junior college, essentially) is also right beside Macdonald campus.
It’s about a 45 minute drive downtown. More, in traffic. I think you can catch a train a short walk from campus, and there are buses.
There used to be the greatest snack bar in town. Best fries ever. Served in a paper bag, piping hot. You’d juggle from hand to hand in the winter trying to fight off the cold while not burning yourself…and then you’d burn your tongue gobbling them down, they were so good.
