Hi all, I'm fairly new to this site so please bear with me.

I'm a Canadian female voice applicant applying to Mcgill's undergrad program for performance and education. I logged on minerva today, and my status says:

Decision Release Date: March 1st 2013

I'm confused now to as what it means because my screening tape still hasn't been approved, and the auditions dates for voice are march 2nd-10th. They said if i get an audition they'll notify me a couple weeks before the audition date.

Is this a bad thing?? I'm so worried and scared right now please help!!!!

It would be best if you would contact either Melanie Collins or Pia D’Amico. As we are in the US we have had to call several times regarding the audition and the status on Minerva. (We have visited the school and my kid is auditioning by video for Schulich) If you get the voicemail they always call back very quickly and are very pleasant and helpful to work with. Here’s a link with #'s, email etc.

Thank you so much for your help. I will call within a few days. A friend sent an e-mail and they said they would start giving out auditions days early this week. I’ll call by Wednesday hopefully get a positive response. Thanks again!

Also be aware that they have been having some fairly significant problems with the online applications (at least for Grad school) My D had a really hard time making sure everything was in on time as some of it was really messed up. She had to keep calling and finally everything fell into place. Her audition for Grad school was early January though so things may be cleared up.

The decision release date is not a “bad thing” so no need to be scared. It may be a date on which they release a decision as to whether your academic credentials are acceptable (and for non-music applicants, that would mean an acceptance to McGill; in your case, you will have to wait for Schulich’s approval after your audition). When my son applied to Schulich, we ignored Minerva after we had submitted all the necessary information/documents. I believe we received an email from Schulich regarding acceptance.

In my son’s experience last year, Minerva wasn’t really kept up to date. Also, even after he auditioned, the actual audition was never acknowledged on Minerva. I think it said something like “Audition Date February 19, waiting for review” or something like that. I wasn’t sure they were aware that he had actually auditioned. Definitely call music admissions if you have questions. We found them to be helpful.
