McGill or Purdue for engineering?

Overall McGill is definitely better, but if im considering going to the engineering program, which one do you think is better? btw i am an international student. Thanks!

come to mcgill. The boilermakers are mediocre.

If you look at the US News World Engineering school rankings, they are neck in neck:
[World’s Best Universities: Engineering and IT - US News and World Report](http://www.usnews.com/articles/education/worlds-best-universities/2010/09/21/worlds-best-universities-engineering-and-it-.html)

Mcgill is certainly in a more interesting area (big city) and has more diverse population of students, but Purdue would have more types of engineering majors available and better funding. Basically US Universities are richer, since they charge more tuition. If it is only academics you are concerned with, I recommend Purdue. After all, its specialty is engineering. But if you strongly prefer to be in a large diverse city, then Mcgill would have an edge.

A friend who graduated from Indiana University told me that half the Purdue freshman engineer class drops out once they realize that the won’t get to drive trains!

That is IU/Purdue rivalry. But seriously, both are great schools as web2094 said. It would come down to what environment and lifestyle you want for four years.

Thank you so much guys! I have been accepted by Purdue Engineering, and am still waiting for McGill’s decision, hopefully i can get in!
Merry X’mas!

I would like to revive this thread again… My son has been accepted into both McGill and Purdue for the chemical engineering programme. I would like some input before we actually decide…:-)

go to where your son plans to work. Purdue if USA, McGill if Canada.

@moneyp Thanks. But I was asking more in terms of better college, better programme etc… :-)
