I've read lots about how McGill has a great party scene, which is definitely something i'm looking for, along wiht great academics. But my question is about what the party scene is like. Is it like many other highly urban universities, where the students just go off and do their own thing, and go to concerts and bars on the weekends, or is it more like american colleges where there are huge parties with lots of students from the college? Since its right in the middle of a huge city, i dont know how it would be possible to have big parties, and i assume mcgill doesnt have fraternities.

My 2nd question is regarding skiing. How often do mcgill students get to go skiing? Are there nearby ski slopes? I know tremblant is relatively close, do people go there often?

man you sound like my type of person!! haha ;)

anyway I answered question #1 in the other forum..

as for skiing there are a lot of resorts I found, obviously Tremblant is the big one but I also saw Mont St Sauveur and some other smaller ones that are closer, but whatever skiing you want is probably about an hours drive away. McGill does have a really rocking ski club (see ancidote in other entry) and a flat rate of under $100, (more like $80 0r $90) will get you transportation and discounted rates during ski team/club outings, which are, I think every weekend plus some weeknights or something like that. They go to the closer ones and Tremblant, I think they hit tremblant on a longer trip and the closer ones for one day/nightskiing outings.

Obviously in terms of quality of skiing....well it's not west coast powder. I don't know where you're from...being from Seattle I've heard that the snow isn't as good as what I'm used to getting to ski in BC and even the seattle skiing's not that bad, but here I've heard that there are some wicked steep fast runs, and moguls, if you fancy those too. Not much in the way of powder skiing though :(

im from america, but ive been touring montreal for quite a while now, and wow what can i say? the party scene is just amazing and sweet! as for mcgill, i have been visiting it quite often b/c i may join for the next semester, and that also seems like a really good school!, from academics to the social life.
and the skiing is also really fun there and really close in proximity!
