Any onee pleaseeee!!!

Usually, move in is the week before classes start, but you’ll be notified of the exact date once your housing assignment has been done (I’d bet it’ll be August 22/23, classes start September 1). This week is spent doing various fun activities. There will be RezFest, a big bbq for everyone in residence. There’s Discover McGill: it’s pretty much a day of campus tours and general introduction to the school, they will give you a backpack filed with information pamphlets about different student services, etc. Then there’s frosh - or freshman orientation. There’s a few kinds: faculty frosh (science, management, etc) SSMU frosh (SSMU = the student society of McGill University), and a few alternate froshes (RadFrosh, different student groups). They don’t all run at the same time so you can do more than one; faculty is first, then SSMU. Frosh (except for the alternate froshes) is centered around drinking; pub crawls, club parties at night, a beach party day, a boat cruise, white water rafting are just some examples of activities that have been done in the past. Again, you’ll get all the information mailed to you towards the middle/end of summer telling you exactly what each involves, how much it costs, how to sign up.

thanks alot carly36 . another question :-
how do people in the same dorm usually get to know each other ?

is it okay like NOT to drink during freshman week?

People in the same dorm usually get to know each other by…hanging out. Once you’re all moved in, go door to door on your floor and introduce yourself, hang out in people’s rooms, or help them move in.

You might have a hard time not drinking during frosh, especially faculty and SSMU frosh.

If you don’t plan on drinking at all, like not even minimal amounts, then I would suggest you don’t do these froshes and do one of the alternate ones instead (if you want to do frosh at all): RadFrosh (all about activism) and Fish Frosh (put on by the Christian club) are some of the alternates - I think there’s also one by the Muslim student association?
