McGill University Class of 2012/2013

@ Zerina12: i didn’t get any email notification that my status changed until i logged into my Minerva account. So do check your minerva on a daily basis!

I was admitted to the Faculty of Arts! :)

@Calgirl15, on what stats? I only ask because I am also a borderline arts (potential student) and would like to get a sense of the admissions standards this year

My application has been ready for review for atleast two months and they still haven’t made a decision. Should I be concerned?

@Myself. My b.
“The admissions deadline is actually January 15 for those who are applying from U.S. high schools. I applied with a 3.8 unweighted GPA (cumulative 9-12) and a 2350 SAT I (760 CR, 800 M, 790 W). My standardized test scores are definitely the high points of my application. I have a feeling they’re going to start reviewing apps this coming Monday, as it will be the first day after the deadline.”

@ calgirl15: congrats! So are you heading to McGill or Berkeley?

I probably won’t be attending Berkeley because it is very expensive to Canadian citizens such as myself. I may end up at McGill if I don’t get into any of my U.S. choices this year. :)

@ ImVeryAverage: Yup, that was my post from the first page!

Do they release decisions to students in the USA before french students? My minerva is still “ready for review”…

International decisions start first, when they will be released for each person is anyone’s guess.

Hey I’m sure you would be accepted! you have gotten yourself really good stats!
Also i’m transferring from an australian university into second year but my first year courses do not match mcgill’s first year’s. do you think i stand a chance? :(

Checked minerva and it said further review required. Uploaded my semester transcript right away and hopefully will receive a decision soon!

How does this upload thing work?
I’ve already sent my transcript, but my midyear report just got released.

Should I re-upload the midyear report and the transcript, or just my midyear report because they already have my transcript.

Also, does it matter if what I send them is unofficial? It’s what our school gives to us when we check our report cards online.

When it says that an admission has been offered on minerva, it’s considered “unofficial”, but what are they chances that the admission offered was a mistake?

Like is it pretty much 100% that you are offered an admission if it says that you have been accepted on minerva?

is minerva accurate?

Minerva is 100% accurate, assuming McGill doesn’t screw up like Vassar College did last week.

But when minerva says “admitted pending final results”, can they change their mind after seeing the final results? Can they change their decision if the grades weren’t as good as before?

Do they send out the official letter once the status changes to “admitted pending final results?”

frenchbac12: they can withdraw their offer if your grades drop dramatically.

Yes you will get a letter outlining your offer and your requirements in order to maintain said offer.

To those who have an offer, do you also know if you have the one year entrance scholarship (NOT the major one, only the $3000 one)? I haven’t applied for a major one but it’d be nice to get the other one :stuck_out_tongue:
Also have any of you applied or are you planning on applying for McGill’s need-based financial aid, like the bursaries program?

Chance me please!
IB predict: 40 points.
GPA: 3.7 Unweighted (senior grades)
sophomore / junior - between 3.3 and 3.4
SAT score: 1650 out of 2400. I know its low! but I heard McGill focuses more on IB points than SAT scores. I probably won’t send them in at all!
Applying to faculty of education! thanks!
and I am an international applicant.
