McGill University v.s Queens University

Hello ! I'm interested in appyling to these two universites, among many others and I just wanted to know how people would compare the two. At the moment, I'm kind of leaning towards McGill.

Are you American, Canadian or overseas?

Queen’s University is about as close as you come in Canada to an American style “college town” environment… Queen’s is a major research university in a city of about 100,000 people that is remote from any big cities. McGill is in the amazing city of Montreal. Are you looking for a college town or a big city?

In terms of admission, McGill is slightly more competitive than Queen’s. There are very few Americans at Queen’s compared to Americans comprising 10% of McGill’s enrolment. Overseas students comprise a much larger portion of students at McGill too.

For undergraduate education, McGill and Queen’s are comparable. Both are publicly funded private universities and first year classes will often be large. As is the case in the US, Queen’s, being in a small city, will have a more cohesive student body and a more obvious party scene on campus (drunken riots at Homecoming etc.). McGill students will tend to be involved with the city of Montreal and all it has to offer.

Seriosuly, both are GREAT! For undergrad, I prefer Queens and for Grad, I prefer Mcgill. Kingston, where Queens is located, is a great, great town!

for your info, Mcgill’s total population is a about 13k more than Queens.
