Mcgill vs boston university vs ubc

Hi guys,
I've been accepted to mcgill (school of dietitics and nutrition) and bu (sargent) and ubc (nutrition). i was just wondering which one should i go into? i kno they're all pretty good but which one has a better reputation? Also, which one's safer, living in the states seems pretty different, i've been there and the driving and the people seems to be a bit rude (sry if i offend anyone!) I am also thinking about transferring to UCLA/Harvard later on and perhaps go into med school, which one would be best for that? Any insights would be greatly appreciated, I'm really torn between these schools

Can you afford $43,000/year tuition at Boston University?

Don’t know about transfers, but just like grad school, your grades matter more than the school you went to.
I don’t know BU, and, as I’ve said before, between UBC and McGill, there’s no wrong choice academically. Internationally, and within New England, McGill may be better known, but reputation should not be a significant factor (unless there was a significant difference in reputation, i.e. McGill vs some tiny, crummy, local college). So your decision should be based on other factors. Location, school spirit, environment, etc. McGill and UBC are both large schools, McGill is in downtown Montreal, UBC is practically in the suburbs of Vancouver (closer to the beach, SFU is the one in the mountains)… Anyway, people in Bawston have a funny accent and don’t know how to pronounce Faneuil properly.;)

LOL Blobuf! You should hear a Bostonian try to pronounce “Longueuil”.

If you want to transfer, I’d recommend going to McGill.

Make sure you nail all your 1st semester classes. Study your ass off and get straight As. A lot of your peers will be out drinking until 2 and the class average will be low. Study your ass off, network with the professors, and transfer to Harvard.

Something important to consider if you plan on transferring to Harvard: Harvard looks at a lot more than just your college grades, so even having a perfect 4.0 at McGill is far from guaranteeing an acceptance. In addition to top-notch grades and excellent recommendations from profs, you will need to show that your academic interests are more closely aligned with what is offered at Harvard; that is, you need to additionally prove that Harvard offers something you’re interested in that McGill does not. Given McGill’s already extensive resources, this can be very challenging, but transferring from McGill to Harvard is not unheard of – in fact, the Crimson published a news article in 2009 saying that at least one of the accepted transfers that year was from McGill. But you definitely need to show why Harvard is a better academic fit for you.

Thank you all for the advice!! After looking at it a bit more, I don’t think transferring to harvard is a possibility. So now i guess i just have to focus on the 3 schools and see which one i should go with but I am leaning more on the canadian schools. between mcgill and ubc, which one would be better? Does ubc not have low averages and better studying environment (ie. less partying)?

I am going to ubc this year, and I believe the academic difficulty is about the same in any canadian university(esp. the big 3 including ubc and mcgill). In terms of party scene I hear Mcgill has better night life, whereas ubc has more clubs and other social activities.
